I'm afraid to commit since we have a vacation to Las Vegas coming up this week, but I don't think 100 miles is out of the question if the weather cooperates. Yes, I do ride my spin bike. I don't want to acknowledge that time since it is torture and in this country we don't acknowledge that. Most of the rest of the rides for the month will be minimum of 20 miles. I felt like a champ yesterday, until I hit the patches of snow on my road bike. EEK!!!!

3/8--9.1 miles (there was still some snow on the MUP)

OK, I think the exercise is catching up with me. Felt a bit more sore yesterday and wasn't sure I would ride today at all. After looking up about Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS), it sounded like what I was experiencing. ON Wiki and Web MD they suggested light exercise might help so I decided to just pedal at 11-13 mph in a lower gear while watching the GCN guys!!

Goal: updated 150 -> 200 miles (trainer inclusive - T = trainer)

so far
3/3 -- 10.2 T miles
3/4 -- 7.7 T miles (received a new fluid resistance unit for my CycleOps and it is much harder!!)
3/5 -- 12.8 T miles (1hr on the trainer)
3/6 -- 11.3 T miles (little over 45 min on trainer)
3/7 -- 25.2 miles OUTDOORS PERSONAL RECORD: DISTANCE!!!!!
3/8 -- 12.8 miles OUTDOORS!!!!
3/9 -- 14.1 T miles (1 hour on the trainer)
3/10 -- 10.0 T miles(about hour on trainer at a more moderate pace)

MTD: 104.1 miles

Even going slower is better than nothing at all and it did seem to help the soreness in my legs.

Frank

Don't forget, a rest day can be just as important as a ride day. Your body needs to repair itself and a good rest day can really help. I hope you're having fun though.

watching GCN and pedaling slow was a rest day!!!

If this wasn't fun, I do not think my body would wake me at 4:45 AM each day before the alarm in anticipation of trainer or outdoor riding.

yeah, I am hooked and maybe the endorphins or some brain chemical has me hooked is overpowering the pain response plus I have been feeling better getting some exercise over resting. All that combined, I would rather ride than skip a day right now. Rest so far has been OK. 24 hour of sitting at my desk at work or sitting at home seems to be OK for now but I will heed your warning.

It has just been to fun to stop!!! I guess I am just a 43 year old kid.

I'm in for trying to get 100 miles by the end of the month. It will be next week before I can get out, so I'll need a couple of 50 mile weeks to make it happen. If you don't aim high, you'll never know what you can do.

I think we need a 1,000+ month thread. I've already done a century, an 80 mile day, and a few 35-50 mile days this month on top of commuting by bike daily.

I agree I'm almost too embarrassed to post my 60 mile total after seeing a hundreds of miles and over 10k in elevation posted and it's not even half way through the month! However it does make it want to ride more...

everyone's goal differ in a wide range, some people have allot of time, some have little, ect ect. don't be scared, post your goals and ride to it and enjoy it. The feeling you get along the way is indescribable. And if it's not, maybe you need to look to the side more often.....vs just chasing numbers.

Most miles I have ever ridden this week. Nothing compared to a lot of folks who have posted, but having fun.

I supplemented with some fairly solid binges, not totally crash and burn, but stress is so devious. Anyway! That's my update...

Finally got a ride in today, as the temperatures have got high enough for the snow and ice to start thawing. Still a chilly 45F, and pretty windy and wet (mostly due to cycling through rivers of thawing out snow), but I managed 27.2 miles today in 92 minutes. Pretty happy with that, although my legs felt like they were going to fall off after the first hour!

Well when I got home, my wife and daughter still had a bunch of homework to go through and they suggested I take a ride. With the temps hitting 58 F, I couldn't resist. Since getting my bike in late Jan., this was the warmest I have ridden since the 80's!!! Since I didn't have a lot of time, I quickened the pace. I was hitting the long stretch doing 17-19 mph. If it wasn't for those two spots where I have to come down to a crawl to do the many cars that c ross those intersections, I might have averaged better than the 14.8 mph I did. Needless to say, I went out for something like 40- 45 mins and it was great. In a pair of shorts, leg warmers, a lightweight long sleeve jersey and a Sugoi Zap windbreaker. It was heaven. Did 10.5 miles!! Of course, I woke up this morning and still felt good so I did a lite, low cadence trainer workout. Managed 10.2 miles there.

New totals:

Goal: 200 miles (trainer inclusive - T = trainer)

3/11 -- 10.5 miles
3/12 -- 10.2 T miles (about 45 min. on the trainer)

MTD: 124.8 miles
