Bikes: too many of all kinds

Commuting by electric bike is too much fun!!!

I admit that 90% of the time I am pedaling my road bike. I love pedaling my little steel road bike to work every morning. It is a great way to wake up.

However, when I take my custom Klein electric mountain bike to work it is just way too much fun. It has a relatively modest electric assist (300 watts) so I still do lots of pedaling. The motor power is similar to my leg power, so I get twice the power (and twice the fun). This bike has the speed and power of a good tandem ride, and adds about 5mph to my pedal only speed.

Biking to work at 23mph is kinda fun (8.6 miles in 27 minutes including stopping at intersections). FYI, the conversion kit cost me about $500 delivered.

Nice setup, chas. The electric bikes seem to really be on a steep curve of improvement. The shop where I just purchased my Vanmoof had many examples to ogle. Thanks for posting.

l love commuting on my ebike also (Bionx conversion 350 watt motor.) However, on nice days, I find myself riding my carbon fiber road bike to work. It's a blast, too (the weather is a big contributor to that experience.) My ebike is pedal assist only (I didn't install the throttle.) Most pedal assist ebikes that assist above 20mph are illegal here.

I don't care what you ride, but if the sign says no motorized vehicles, don't ride there (unless I can draft at 25 mph).

Bikes: Bacchetta Giro A20, RANS V-Rex, RANS Screamer

No speed-related bragging allowed with E-assist.

I like motor pacing and drafting, but with a little e-assist I create my own draft. :-)

It ain't racing or bragging, but doing a bike commute in the mid 20's is pretty nice.

I passed hundreds of cars in rush hour traffic on the way home. That is worth bragging about. ;-)
