Got ‘lucky’ this week: had a flat thanks to Mr. Thorn :-/ (of course, always that rear tyre)
Fortunately – when I pumped some air back into the tyre – the air escaped only very slowly, and so I managed to get home... this time.
I learned my lesson. Yep, even a new bike can run flat.
So, now I always carry a pair of Gaadi ‘snakes’ with me as an easy emergency replacement. (And next year, I’ll upgrade my tyres.)

I heard about them in the past - they were called "sausage inner tubes" IIRC - but never used one. I also heard stories about tourers repairing a burst out tube by cutting it and making knots in the ends.

With my luck I would install one of those and end up with either a gap or overlap at the joint. Also it seems like it would be too easy for the tube to twist during installation in the tire.

Have to check but I believe these tubes are slightly heavier or thicker too.
