On this Black Friday, what are you asking Santa for this year?

I jut mounted studded tires on my winter bike. I'm honestly kind of looking forward to a heavy snow

Bikes: Kuota Kredo/Chorus, Trek 7000 commuter, Trek 8000 MTB and a few others

Powertap P1 pedals. Not for the commuter bike though. 25% off today, so I'm tempted.

I splurged and bought a cool weather cycling jersey, but it seems rather thin as it cost $100. I have a feeling I will be disappointed.

But I've been reading and trying to figure out how to put together a $1k 2.1 home audio system. One of my powered bookshelf speakers died and I ain't plunking down $350 for another set. I'll have a set up that will also provide good home music as well. With a 7.2 receiver, I can have speakers in two rooms!

Bikes: Montague Swissbike X50

I gave up on Santa a long while ago.

Indulged and bought myself:

- Cane Creek Thudbuster ST
- Montague Rackstand
- Weinmann 519 rim built by JBI under the Wheelmaster brand w/ a quick release hub (so as to make the Rackstand work)

(and a handlebar w/ the wrong dimensions, but we won't mention that)

The one glitch is the suspension seatpost means my Avenir saddlebag won't fit anymore, so I need to find a saddlebag which:

- attaches to the rails
- doesn't have a strap to go around the seatpost
- does have a loop at the back for a light (I like to run two rear lights, one on the rack, the second higher up)
- is black, and plain w/ minimal branding

I've found a few which meet 3 of the requirements, but not having much luck on such bags w/ the loop feature --- guess I'll have to pick one w/ a zipper arrangement which allows me to add my own.

EDIT: managed to find a few, and wound up w/ a Banjo Brothers Deluxe Mini Saddle Bag --- perfect fit, and very secure, and very nicely made (may add a small leather pad to protect it from the seatpost screw).

If you are willing to give powered speakers another try, see if you can find a place that will sell you JBL LSR305 for $99 each. I think these things could put a real hurt on home audio sales if more people tried them. If I insisted on something for the lower end, I might add a Parts Express subwoofer or one of the Monoprice offerings.

I would like a steel adventure bike with 105 and disk brakes. one that can run 32mm + tires maybe even swap out and put 650b with even fatter tires on it. I want one so bad but my spouse is against this N+ 1 addiction

This summer I got a used Black Bike Friday .

26 by 1.9 " Suomi Nokian Mount and Ground W tire work well on black ice and bare pavement,

which is typical here when it drops below 0C and snows .. got street crampons on my shoes , so I don't fall, when off the bike .

a1penguin, I got one of those jerseys, and the price made me gasp, but it has paid off. Mine is a Castelli. I love it. It works in a wide range of temperatures.

For Black Friday and Cyber Saturday, Cyber Monday, Cyber Week, and all variations thereof, all I want is the friggin emails to stop. I’m getting up to 50 a day from various companies I do business with. Don’t mind getting one or two a day, but this is insane.

alan_s, if you're not using email filters, you're working too hard. I don't see many emails I don't want to see.

I like getting them once in a while, but the recent onslaught is making me consider unsubscribing. For example, Jenson USA sent me 26 Black Friday related emails. Really don’t need to be reminded several times a day that it’s Black Friday.

26 messages from one business in one day! Definitely cut that off. You can rejoin later. It’s nice t going to get better over the next month.

gmail with 'Priority Inbox' FTW! I get hundreds of emails per day, or maybe it's just tens, I don't really know or care, and that's the point. gmail does a good job of learning what emails are important to me and go into the priority unread area, and what goes 'below the fold', where I can casually scan and usually just ignore.

I have their latest, which is google inbox. It has even smarter filters, plus ways of making to-do items, to-read items, and scheduling things to nudge me in the future. It took 40 minutes of pain to get used to, and now it's a lot of pleasure.

Is that a smartphone app? I'm just using gmail in-browser, with settings/Inbox type/Priority Inbox
