A nice 'intro to commuting' article
Hits some of the big points:
Biking on the Cheap
"I bought it instead of a buying a new car. Now I ride about 2/3 of the miles I travel. At this rate I think my old car will last about 15 years. This change is saving me about $8,000 dollars a year."

Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.
Great article! I like how it promotes biking as an everyday activity, not just (or even primarily) for enthusiasts.
