Isn't part of the new road going to be a bike lane from BU to the BU bridge? Pretty ironic.

I don't even think a bike lane is necessary there.

Don't hold your breath on the DPW.

Just be careful its not too fresh! I once destroys both tires going out RIGHT AFTER they laid the asphalt. I thought it was so cool, feeling that warmth and leaving my own impression all over the street, then about twenty minutes later I was walking home...!

I love the feel of a freshly paved road. So smooth.

Totally not necessary -- Comm Ave is big and broad -- and it won't work anyway because of the nonexistent enforcement on double-parking. As for the DPW, I've resigned myself to riding around by the Fenway all summer, probably longer.

You know how you made drip-castles when you were a kid? Taking totally wet sand and squeezing it in your fingers until drops fell out and made big melt-y looking towers? That is kind of how the pavement looks in the bike lane near my apartment.

I don't know whether to complain about things like that (including all the grates and sewer lids on the MUP) because it makes it sound like bikes are more infrastructure high-maintenance than cars.

I plan my routing according to fresh pavement sometimes, even if it takes me a few miles out of the way. Mantequilla!

today i thought i was on a road that was half fresh paved, half stripped. then i came around the corner and saw a roller coming down my lane and turned around to notice the big groove i was creating in the still not finished paving in my lane. oops.
