I'm a Program Manager for Microsoft. I'm part of a relatively small team in Raleigh that works on Visual Studio Team System (Team Foundation Server to be more specific for the software developers here).

My commute is about 19 miles round trip. We have a single shower with a few lockers in our 1st floor bathroom. I'm pretty much the only person who uses them consistently. I've been commuting by bike 4-5 days each week for the last year-and-a-half so everyone's gotten used to seeing me in lycra. I park my bike in my office and get occasional comments/questions on it.

A few people have expressed interesting in bike commuting, but only one person has actually ridden in with me in all this time. He hasn't ridden in again since, but he has talked about it. There's a guy who lives on my street who works in the same building and he's talked about it to but hasn't actually tried it yet. At least he's started riding on the weekends.

Machinist, I spend my day running a turret lathe. Uniforms on the rack when I get there in the morning, and a restroom to change in. My bike sits under a flight of stairs within sight of my lathe.

I am an ETL designer \ programmer.
In english, I design and code processes that load databases for our applications.

My company does not care how I get to work. Just that I am there. Unfortunately they are moving from our current dump of an office to a completely bike unfriendly building. Instead I have rented a bike locker at a nearby light rail station. The positives are that I will now have a shower, gym, cafe, and air flow. Mmmm fresh air. Mmmm...

Database administrator for a local school district. Commute is 4 miles round trip; easy piece of cake.

But occasionally I have to ride out to the schools. Last Friday, for instance, I visited 8 schools for a total of 24 miles.

My coworkers are jealous that I can commute, but they could too, easily. I store my bike in my office.

lol. I live in the nicer part of Delco in Ridley right outside Swarthmore. My normal ride is through Folsom-Collingdale-Darby-Lansdowne-and up through West Philly to Baltimore. On the way home I take Baltimore to Springfield, to Cobbs Creek, out to Main through Colwyn, and back into my area by paralleling McDade. On both ways I use the Spring Garden bridge and bypass CC altogether.

As a sidenote, no one would want to ride through the grittier parts of West Philly beyond 50th, it sucks having to cross that zone, but I don't get heckled or anything. In the winter once it gets dark.... I might have to take the train home for safety's sake, but I'll see.

I really don't mind the commute but I do miss living in the dorms... perhaps next year.

Network Admin for a local credit union.

Park my bike right next to my desk. I come in, clock in, cool down, then go change. Wash up in the rest room.

Nobody has an issue, yet. I don't think they will. They think it's amazing that I had a heart attack 3 months ago and I'm commuting 19 miles round trip now. There are people that literally live across the major street and they drive to work. They can't believe that I ride the whole thing.

I'm loving it so far.

Senior mechanical engineer at an aerospace company (not Boeing). I am in a small office that provides a shower, lockers, and an outdoor bike rack but we normally store the bikes inside in an empty cubicle. There are 4 regular bike commuters out of 20 people. I ride 15 miles each way a couple or three times a week when I'm not on travel.

Lets see, I can't come up with a Job Description. Man, I hope they don't fire me....

Okay, to be serious, I am the president / owner of a company that grows trees for people as an investment as a way to create permanent forest. We also build furniture and just about anything possible with wood - and given how much construction we do, I am thinking we also are in the construction business.

But what do I do for a living? Handle problems and make plans... Not much else, really.

I have a President's office, which is a cabina overlooking one of the reforestation areas, with its own bathroom, shower - and if the bike needs clean, well, that is what we have a mechanic for, right?

Residential apprentice plumber. Lock the bike up to a fence outside the pipe warehouse, with so much copper on hand, no one messes with the bike. Uniforms ready for me, a little funk surprises no one. I get to play with power tools and fire.

So much of what the world thinks is smart, is actually stupid. I make money on that.

For instance... pretty paper currencies with no redeemable value? Stupid.

Credit cards? Six thousand pound cars or trucks hauling 1 person around? ARM's? Govcorps? All stupid.

Attorney for a big "white shoe" firm in NYC.

I ride 6mi each way and park my bike at the train station in Newark, NJ and catch the PATH (commuter rail) the rest of the way. (My commute: https://forums.roadbikereview.com/sho...d.php?t=100625.)

We've got a shower in one of the restrooms, which I use when the temp for the ride in is over 60F. I much prefer the winter when I can just wear "business casual" for the ride in. (I don't like to arrive in shorts and SPD sandals unless I'm in by 7:30 or 8. As a consequence, on days when I leave at 1 or 2, I get off the bike at 2 or 3 and have to get back on it around 6:30. Not every day is that late, of course, but enough are that every week or so in the summer I take the train instead of the bike for the extra 40min of sleep. In the winter, it's nice to be able to roll in anytime before my first call.)

Chemical analyst for a global chemical/mechanical co.

Im sure that most of you either drive or ride something that comes from my lab. We make materials for everybody from NASA to Joe Shome.

5 miles one way. We have a large locker room with a couple showers due to the exposure to chemicals. I ride straight into the plant and park my bike in my office. Take a shower change into jeans and a t-shirt and put on a lab coat. The only down side to the commute is the hours that I work. 3pm to 1130pm. Night rides lend themselves to strange sights and sounds.
