Just found Bike Forums last week and I'm addicted. Great thread. Here's my info:

A) I'm a Lutheran Pastor.
B) I usually ride 20-30 miles round trip (I live next to the church, but commute four or five days a week for hospital calls, shut-in visits, and other pastoral duties).
C) I lift and shower at the Y if I'm downtown, then clean up again at the hospitals as necessary. Otherwise, if I am traveling elsewhere, there isn't much I can do.
D) I park it wherever I can (not a lot of racks in Saginaw) and pray for the best.
E) I've been commuting two years now.
F) I wish I were a year-round commuter, and I'm working toward it, but December-February is no fun here, and drivers don't make it much easier (What's a bike? This is Michigan).

That's really cool. A family friend of mine is a linguist who specialized in Arabic. He's majored in it through college and grad school in a somewhat happenstance fashion, and it just so happened to pay out for him really well. He has been all over the world and spends a lot of time in the Mid-East (obviously). At any rate, sounds interesting and I'm a little bit jealous.

For me:

Occupation

Medical Student.

Commuting Distance

About a mile. I walk to school/the hospital when I have to dress up.

When I work I...

Do nothing. If anything, I'll get dirtier at school, although not likely.

Where bike is parked

Outside, locked to a rack that is cemented into the ground. Haven't ever left it overnight, and although my school is located downtown, it's in the middle of a group of school buildings and the general populace doesn't walk through there.

Number of years commuting

1+

Year round/Part time

Year round to school/hospital. In the Spring/Summer/Fall, I'll also ride to the store, gym, haircut, etc. Last Summer, I probably only put 100 miles on my car.
