52, Male. Commute every day nothing's falling from the sky when I get up (I'll ride home in the junk no prob). 28 miles round trip most days, has extended as I ride more. I'm working up to make 46mi RT if I can sustain it. Can stay on a MUP for 43 of my 70 mile each way commute if I choose to.

I gave my car to my little brother so if I am not biking or walking I am not going anywhere.

I usually end up putting in at least 15 miles a day.

Cycle commuter since Spring of 2001. 16 R/T miles by bicycle plus 110 on the train. 4 seasons.

45 Male. Started bike commuting 3 years ago because I got sick of the traffic grind. Its a ride, train, ride commute so not too bad. All year, unless its raining, but it doesn't rain much around here. My goal when starting out was 3 days a week. The last year its been pretty much every day.

Late 40's, female, bike commuter off and on since 1987. If you count riding to school and university as commuting, make that since 1967. Always less than 10 miles round trip.

Just bought some studded tires and I plan to continue riding this winter.

49 yo male, been commuting rain or shine for 3 years. 6 miles round trip. Don't have a car anymore, so I ride everywhere unless my wife makes me drive. Which is rare. We both ride/train 95% of the time.

41 years old, male, commuting year-round since 1999. No snow in winter, just rain and fog.

47, female, commute when it's light in early morning (May -August). I have a 40-mile round trip. Been commuting for 6 years.

52, male, been bike commuting on and off since grade school... with a brief foray into the "motoring only" lifestyle between ages 16 and about 20. (yes, I do have a valid drivers license and I do drive). I was largely car free from about 1976 to about 1986. These days I drive or bike as I see fit.

44, male, married, 2 kids, I don't drive unless there's a good reason, like going to the lumberyard to buy a door, or a kid needs to be delivered with instrument to school before the bus gets there, etc. This time of year that means I drive 2 days a week (and hate it) - once the football season is over, I get to ride 5 days a week until next September.

In Michigan, temps down to well below zero. Studded tires FTW.

I noticed you posted a link in another thread from the ann arbor craigs list, you from around that area? I commute Up Packard in the mornings, and down ellsworth in the afternoon, riding a Silver bike, with bull horns, with a silver helmet, and a grey messenger bag. Wave some time if you see me.

Edit.... Realizing now I just gave all the axe murderers a perfect description of me and normal route... tee hee.

Been riding bikes as far back as I can remember..they've always been a way for me to get places and I've always chosen them over driving when I could.

I drive more than I would like. I view cycle commuting as a supplement to a tight budget, plus a free way to get exercise. Some months it's 5 days a week, others it's 2. It really depends on what's happening in life at the moment. I do it year round when I can.

Last winter I did like 3 months in a row without driving the car :)

No worries, all the axe murderers from that state up north have turned their attention to those poseurs in Ann Arbor after they lost to ND. :lol:

I'm 53 yr. old woman. I commute to work as often as I can. For this winter I have a bike with full suspension, disc brake, studd tires. I plan on riding this winter, its only 8 milesRT

21, male, I ride my bike to school and errands everyday, I now can ride in the snow because I built my winter bomb single speed, probably wont commute in ice, and do commute in (light-moderate) rain

My commute is from Chelsea to work in Dexter. 100% rural. I'm just glad they finally got 2 way traffic back up on the bridge in Dexter, that was a PITA.

27, first summer bike commuting. I plan on doing it every day with the exception of snow and ice. I may change habit come December 1st when I start training for IMKY. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing :(

Oh, they finally fixed that, eh? I used to be down there a lot, my mum lives in pickney, so when I go that way I go through dexter.

My "youngest" son will be 35 in December. We'll leave it at that. 11 miles each way.

61, male, executive, married, one school-age daughter, year-round commuter for eleven years, 20 mile round trip. Started cycling on snow and ice at 13 in New England, so winter is no big deal. Too lazy to drive my cars except on weekends.

I lived in Dexter in the late 1980s. I also lived in Whitmore Lake for a while.

I worked at Domino's Pizza, and McDonald's in Chelsea. I worked at Cottage Inn in Dexter.

I'm so glad to be away from restaurant work now.

Year rounder.

36 male with an 11 mile RT. Started commuting full time a few months ago, year-round shouldn't be an issue in my neck of the woods.

42yo male, been commuting about 5 weeks. Actually lost a couple of pounds, really tough ones to lose. I'll ride in rain if its warm. Cold and raining maybe not.
