The truck is front-end and wheels past the edge of the sidewalk in that screencap.

At what point did you really think he was going to stop? It's apparent (to me, at least) that the driver has full intention of crossing the intersection no matter what's coming up the road at him. I see that kind of crap all the time around here, especially at the freeway entrances. People know there's no chance in hell they can clear the intersection, but they barge on ahead anyhow and block the path of eveyone else (with the right of way.)

So all I'm getting from this is that you played chicken with a guy in a truck, you got mad that you lost, so you punched his truck and ran away. Who's the baby, again?

Looks to me like he was pulled out to see around those parked cars and then either did not see you or saw that you were a bicycle underestimated your speed. It happens all the time.

Its sad that you flipped him off and punched his truck. You make all cyclists look stupid. I could see doing that if someone was honking or screaming at you for being on the road etc but simply because the person made a mistake??? Give me a break!

No, I meant what I said. Some laws are ass-backward and I feel no moral qualms in breaking them.

I'd just like to say that we are really making mountains out of molehills here. I'm sure just this sort of thing (the incident in the OP) has happened to every one of us at some point. There's no need for the amount of hand-wringing and gnashing of teeth that we've all been doing.

See the above photo. My street does not have a stop. Look at the car ahead of me in the vid. He tapped his brakes at the same spot because he thought the monster truck was going to run the stop on him too. Whose the moron now?

vw's don't really like huge american trucks with 6k in suspension.

i am a subaru guy myself and i hate trucks like that with a passion. i was actually hoping for a u-lock busting out his driver rear taillight.

Wow, so far the people on the car forum are more critical of the guy in the truck than they are of Joey! Who'd'a thunk it?

Joey, I think it is possible based on what I saw that the truck driver entered the intersection, had an OH SCHIDT moment when he saw you and hit his brakes. Is this not even a remote possibility based on your on scene evaluation? Not flaming at all. I agree with most of what you say and do.

Joey,

I must admit that just your title "20 plus mph commuter" makes me dislike you. It is either in jest or you are a ****** bag.

I think this is quite possible too as a lot of motorists underestimate the speed of cyclists. Still the fault of the truck driver for blocking the intersection though.

The first braking, yes, I admit that possibility. Not sure how he could not see me from his "control tower", but possible. The second braking however (in response to my hand gesture) was intended to make me crash. Although, just OWNING a vehicle like that deserves the hand gesture.

Go here https://www.fuh2.com/ for more proof!

How the heck do you figure the cyclist was supposed to stop? He doesn't have a stop sign. The truck does. Stop sign doesn't mean "stop and then go regardless of what's going on" it means "stop and proceed only when traffic is clear."

Please explain why you think the cyclist was supposed to stop in this situation?
