My bike

Hmm, this may be my first post after lurking here for quite long while. Here's the bike I use most days. I built it about 8 years ago from a bare MTB frame. Most of the parts are basic MTB components. I put 26x1.5" tires on which increased my speed dramatically. Drop bars were the next major improvement. I put on about 2k commute miles on it last year.

My other bike

This is my fair weather bike. I scrounged parts from my basement to put it together. It is a single speed since that's what I had parts for. I would ride it more but I can't figure out how to get a fender mounted around the front brake and it rains a lot here.

My new (Soon to be) Commuter

This is my first serious bike, Haven't ridden hard in like ten years but did a lot of riding on dept. store bikes as a young one

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...v/P7240210.jpg

It is a (Late?) 80's Model Falcon Harrier 12 speed English made lugged frame(Reynolds 453 single butted tubing), Shimano Shifters, weinmann brakes, and a real crap plastic seat with a gel cushion that after only a short ride is killing me... Def gonna have to upgrade that thing post haste.

Scored it on craig's list for what i think was a pretty good price. Anyway seeing as i'm new to the forum and semi new to the sport let me know what you think/know about my bike cause the net seems to have little to offer on this particular manufacturer.

I like it. I took my flick stand off, I think they're more or less worthless and detract from the lines of the bike. Also, you should get some aero levers, they will look nicer. The Tektro pair I have only cost 25 bucks. And +1 on getting a new saddle... gel covers are a no-go. Maybe get something in white to go with the color scheme and match your tape and housings.

Thanks. I happen to love the color. I rode it around some yesterday and last night and it is a great feeling bike. Can't wait to ride it to work.

The Jamis color scheme is SO classic looking. I LOVE this bike. The Aurora Elite is similarly elegant though a good deal pricier. I'm so jealous. Jamis is definitely on the top of my list as I scrimp and save toward affording a nice commuting road bike. Enjoy that ride!

The Jamis Aurora is a very interesting and attractive looking ride. I am trying to decide between the Aurora, Surly LHT, and Bianchi Volpe. My LBS sells jamis and bianchi, and he can order any Surly(obviously).
i just wish he could get all three in for me to test ride in my size at the same time.

I put some new upgrades on my Kona blast. The Brooks b17 and the mtx rack, bag, and XC717 w/ slicks and it is getting a cat computer soon. This bike is a pleasure on my short 6 mile commute. I have some 700c disc wheels in the mail.

my wife's commuter

My wife enjoyed my bike so much that I had to get her a distraction (her own bike). She doesn't like the factory speed seat, so we order another b17 and some more proofide.

My spanky new 'check is 58cm, my inseam is 33" and while it is snug on my shenanigans standing over the ride is fabby.

Now I just have to put on my cross tops then wrap the bars.

I drooled over Surly bikes and finally have mine.

I just returned to commuting this week and here is the newest addition to the stable.

wslysol 07-26-08 06:00 PM

What kind of bike is that 12bar?

Sonoma76 07-26-08 07:59 PM

It's a Felt City something or other.

12bar 07-27-08 10:42 AM

It's a Felt Curbside single speed, I added the rack and bags. It really is a nice ride the forks are carbon fiber which helps out a lot on the roads I have to ride.

BoiseShwin 07-27-08 02:42 PM

Here's my 1985 Schwinn Voyaguer SP with a brand new Burley Flatbed attached. Very happy with both.

New Fuji Touring

Well I went to the LBS yesterday looking for a Cross Check complete...picked this Fuji Touring up instead. I think it suits me better. Broke it in with a 36 mile ride today. The ride is plush and the secondary brake levers are really helpful in traffic. The only downside is the weight (I believe it's 27.5 pounds without the fenders and bag). Anyway, it's still amazing compared to my previous bike (a mid 90's Trek 820).

Two week old Trek 7.2 FX. Better for commuting than the KHS Alite 500 I has been using. 720mm wheels ROCK!

Picture was taken on San Diego trolley. Since it is a double track system, the doors only open on one side of the car until it reaches the end of the route, where is switches tracks, and the doors on the ohter side are used on the return trip. I wedge it between the grab bars and take a seat for the twenty mile trip.
