Grim, Did you shorten the hose to the Airzound? I like where you put the tank and I am considering doing the same thing.

Grim 08-10-08 04:41 PM

Nope. I spiral wrapped it around the shifter cable till I got to the head tube and a loop on top of the frame. Wish it was black is my only complaint.

My commuter/Katy Trail/trainer, 2005 Trek 1200C. Over 5k miles and still going strong.

That not a bike, that a bus!! ;)

YULitle 08-12-08 02:08 PM

BAH: How much weight have you put on the tail end?

BAH 08-12-08 02:21 PM

Not sure exact weight, but we've filled the bags to capacity with a costco run. No issues yet. I'm keeping a close eye on it, but so far so good. I might put some reinforcement back there eventually.

finaly I got photos of my commute (and main transport, and only bike). My 7-gear Rex Country
Due to size issues I will post links to them ( I might fix them but I'm to tiered right now)

http://virre.sassur.net/cykeln1.png - This is just outside my door and sadly, due to the bad lighting the horrible color of the bike isn't visible but on the next it is

http://virre.sassur.net/cykeln2.png - I was at a concert when I happend to snap this as I moved the camera to get a good shoot of the stage, but here you might see the color quite much better

http://virre.sassur.net/gear.png - Hear is the backwheel with things on it, the backbrakes are of the type you have to pedal backwards to stop (don't know what they are called in English)

hmm yes that is all

aMull 08-12-08 08:36 PM

My current commuter. Need to get some clip on fenders for the rain, i had forgotten how much spray you make without them.

Nice shots keep it interesting and that converted tandem is sight to see.

StokerPoker 08-13-08 08:23 AM

Bah has some very beautiful bikes and he is an excellent photographer.

Sweet bike! Did you do anything to the gripshifter to get it to fit? I was trying to use the same shifter on the sparrows, but they wouldn't fit. I just scratched up the bars a bit.

Thanks

Here's my Diamondback Transporter. I've posted it before but I've made some changes.

Nashbar Trekking bars
Brooks B-17
Cateye bottle cages
Forte Campus pedals
Axiom Hudson Trunk bag. Great bag for the money.

In raw form right now, but just got this tonight. Was an 07 closeout at the LBS, got it for about 40% off, so i am pumped. And yes I am aware that BD has their version with full ultegra for not much more than I paid, but I wanted the LBS support, I get lifetime adjustments.

That is the first bike I've seen with trekking bars that I've liked. Granted, barends are better (imo) but that's still a good setup. What do you use the front of the bars for, other than mounting accessories?

j2elz 08-14-08 08:33 AM

I usually use the front curves for stretching out. It also gives me a better aerodynamic
position when fighting a headwind. Most of my commute is along the Hudson river and
the headwinds can get pretty nasty.

I bet! Well I like the bike a lot, have fun riding it!

Thanks for posting the updated pics. I've been thinking about getting a DB Transporter for a while. Your pics show some nice potential (especially like those handlebars). Is your bike a 2007 or 2008? How do you like it so far?

A work in progress.....

Just a little update on my commuter bike.

here's when I first got it:

http://i36.tinypic.com/rlj914.jpg

This is after my first Nashbar order:

http://i35.tinypic.com/33yjtaw.jpg
I have since removed the computer. I had too many issues with it. I also don't really use the Nashbar trunk bag too much these days. I really hate to buy a product that I cannot physically see and inspect first. The price was just too good to pass up. I'm sure I will still use it from time to time, just not as I originally intended. I have a hard lunchbox that I strap directly to my rack with 2 bungee cords. Then my hard hat lashes to my lunchbox. I commute in my work boots.

And the current setup:

http://i36.tinypic.com/212vpg2.jpg
I went with a Bell seat post bag from MegaloMart. I looked at a couple different bags at my LBS, Sport Chalet and MegaloMart. The MegaloMart bag ended up being the best one for price. It was less than 7$. The Topeak, Trek and Anenir bags I looked at were all about 30$ or more and they were basically the same thing. So price prevailed.
I did however support my LBS. I went in looking for a seatpost and came out with an aluminum Bontrager 27.2 x 350mm seat post. I also got some Pyramid bar ends. The pedal clips I bought last weekend and I love 'em!

I've got some Pasela tires on the way via Nashbar right now.

Up next I want to get some new pedals. One of them is breaking.
Also want new cables throughout, fenders and a new saddle. I also need new shifters. My left shifter is broken and will only shift to two of the three chain rings. Right now I'm not using the smallest one.:(

I would also like to redo the drive train and possibly true my rims.

I've been toying with the idea of drop bars, but I dunno.....I like the bar ends, for now at least.

http://i201.photobucket.com/albums/a...andDOOR633.jpg

I wanted a bike that few people would invest the effort in stealing. It's a Raleigh M-30 that I bought at a pawn shop for $30. Most of the additions have been free or cheap enough to keep the total investment under $35.

The handlebars were off a discarded little girl's bike. The grips are off a discarded wheelchair. The seat was given to me by a friend when she replaced the seat on her Trek mtb. It is chained down with a bike chain. The fenders are off an old Armstrong. The rear rack was on clearance at Toys R Us for $1.62. The basket is an old high school gym locker basket. I did put on two Planet Bike Superflash blinkies, and a Planet Bike Beamer headlight. Those cost as much as the bike, but I can take them with me.

The lock is a Kryptonite New York Noose. $70 of lock for $30 of bike. That ought to keep the thieves disinterested.

Then I spent $90 on tires and blew my budget. Cest le' vie.
