You got it. The bike has changed a little since those pictures. It now sports Cinelli Critirium bars and a 120mm Cinelli silver stem. As of today, I managed to get my first flat on the Conti Giro tubulars. 6 months, 3 bikes, and tons and tons of skidding. I love those tires. I am running a Conti GP3000 on a different rim for the time being.

EDIT: Also, its far from Mint. Scratched all over, the silkscreen is gone. It had Kona stickers on it when I got ahold of it but thanks for the kind words. I love the bike. Even though its a tad to small.

Just added the bipod kick stand.

I've never actually noticed it. I see what you're saying though after looking at the pics. I bought this bike built up this way (except for the saddle and fenders), and I haven't changed anything but saddle height etc. It is very comfortable this way though. I'll have to experiment next time I redo the tape :thumb:

Most shops seem to like that setup, and it does look like it would be comfy.
The first thing I did when I got my Norco home was re-adjust the handlebars - I just didn't like the look (or feel) of the sky-high hoods. I don't have STI's so it might be something that actually have a functional benefit with the STI's. With my regular brake levers, not so much. When I climb I stand and grasp the brake hoods, and they felt all wrong until I re-rotated the handlebars.

The ergonomics on modern hardware seems to be set up to have the hoods pointing upward. I think it feels great. Also, for climbing you might want your hands in the drops... easier to get a death grip on your drop bar than hoods. :)

I can't climb nearly as well in the drops, perhaps due to years of conditioning to use the hoods - the positioning is all wrong for me. Same with flat bars. I'm a bar-end kind of a guy for flat bar bikes and mountain bikes (I'd never put a riser bar on my ATB).

How did you attach that front derailleur?

With the supplied bolt... :)

Seriously though... it is a Deore with a 34.9 clamp that needed a shim although modern mtb derailleurs will fit perfectly on the 1 1/8 seat tube with no shim.

Had to fabricate a cable stop as well... integrated that into the kickstand and will add a proper braze on stop when I subject the little guy to the torch.

Very nice!
The Norco belt drive count is now 3, I believe, on this forum.

Enjoy the new bike, and congrats!!!!!!

LOL. Only thing it's missing is some Von Dutch pinstripes and maybe whitewalls. Flat black just looks so much better with pinstripes on it.

Well, here's mine, a $50 Univega Activa that I just outfitted with some gear:

That bag on the bag unfurls into a set of (smallish) panniers...

I'm looking for a tire pump, but besides that, I don't think I'm missing anything important... This will be my only means of transportation once fall semester starts. I can't wait!

sweet urban ride, Krapes. Very stealthy.

Thanks! I know that commuting without a fender, rack, or panniers is travesty on this forum but I just love the look of my bike and can't get myself to change anything.

making 07-30-10 10:11 AM

I dont have fenders, why do you need fenders?

Sixty Fiver 07-30-10 10:18 AM

I find that most bikes look a little naked without fenders and if you have to deal with any precipitation their benefits cannot be over rated as they protect the bike, reduce maintainence, and keep you just a little cleaner.

And remember... some of those puddle you ride through might not be filled with water and some of that mud isn't mud.

I ride through the country a good deal and the farmers move a lot of manure, a lot of this gets thrown on the road.
