Here is mine. Though I don't do too much commuting on it anymore, I really set it up for touring for than anything.
2006 Giant FCR3 -Flatbar Hybrid turned into a 3x8 Sora w/ Barcon shifters and Drop Handlebars.

Going to try a Carradice or backpack for carrying stuff.

Here's my new, nice day commuter. 2010 Cannondale CAAD9 5:

And my 1993 GT Tequesta (fully Fredified), rainy day machine:

With 19 straight days of rain to finish up April and start May, which one do you think has been getting the most use? Think that seat is up high enough over the handlebars? Maybe I should consider a different stem...

Picked up this Peugeot touring bike a few months ago and pressed it into commuting duty. It's a bit smaller than I normally ride, but it's working out a bit better than my previous commuter. I'll probably keep it until I can find a similar rig with a 54cm frame...

What saddle is that? Brooks Swallow Imperial?

Looks like Selle Anatomica.

It is a Selle Anatomica indeed. I have both the Anatomica and the Brooks B-17 imperial.

My B-17 is 2000 miles broken in and the Selle is more comfortable right out of the box. Both still pretty phenomenal saddles.

dcrowell 05-06-11 07:48 AM

I've used a number of bikes as my "primary commuter", but currently it's my single speed. Set up as shown below, but I put a single Arkel GT-54 pannier on it.

http://fatguy.org/wp-content/uploads...68-500x375.jpg

It's an 80s Raleigh Record converted to single-speed and 700c wheels. I still plan to put dyno-powered lights on it.

Okay, I did NOT want to hear that. I love my B-17 Narrow, but that Selle Anatomica is dead sexy.

Selle An-Atomica Titanico (clyde version).

Here's a write-up that I posted on my blog:

Beautiful bike... you won't have any trouble finding it a new home and mebbe someone has a 54 they would like to trade.

2011 Motobecane Fantom Cyclocross
so far put 500 miles on this. Great ride happy for under $700 with the additions. So much more comfy than my Cdale super six for commuting, and way cheaper on wear and tare. No racks, I use a back pack.

Nice bike. I'm wondering what fenders you are using. They look to provide very good coverage.

SKS long board 700x32. They fit the rack braz-eons for easy fit. I did trim excess length on the wire supports. They do have good coverage that keeps me dry. So far durable

I have picked up all our 20's for $40.00 - $100.00 and the most expensive one needed very little save for new tyres and grips while this little guy might be one of the most heavily modified 20's out there and there's a little more to do before I strip the bike down and powder coat the frame.

This has been a labour of love that borders on obsession... I could have bought a new Dahon but then I would just have a new Dahon (no offense to new Dahon owners).

Figure that with the new wheels and some new Marathons (installed last night) I have wheels that are worth as much as many entry level bikes and if I was not able to do the wheel and frame work (there has been lots) myself, this would have been a pretty expensive project.

both racks are Surly Nice Racks. I'm glad the back they're both sturdy but the front one is kind of unnecessarily clunky. I like it, though. I use Scotchlite reflective tape on the stays, too. works great.

I have Schwalbe Marathons coming in to replace the Conti Ultra Sports on there now. Aside from that, everything rides great. Now for your viewing pleasure:

I'd like to know more about the shifter.
Seems to be a fair bit more within my price range that bar-ends.

Been riding this lately.

Fizzaly 05-08-11 07:24 PM

Was busy this weekend and built up this single speed "backup" bike, though I'll probably use it to fart around with the girlfriend also. It was a crappy magna frame I had laying around, went to the local co-op and spent 20 bucks and built her up, I do need to get a different seat but other than that it rides pretty good.

One does not always have to be loaded to the max and some days it is nice to travel really light...
