Also, I never said that a long steerer tube was prone to failure. Do not put words in my mouth like that. Every single folding bike I have ridden feels very "loose" and flimsy. This is including Dahons. I would not own a folder myself.

Frankly I don't need your endorsement to ride a bike with a tall steerer tube. So funny...trying to be an enforcer for (of all things...) steerer tubes? LOL. If you cannot see the flaw in your logic after pointing out a folding bike's tall handlepost, you don't show enough of an open mind to different bicycle designs that don't fit your expectations.

Have good day.

I was simply trying to warn you. All I wanted was a little bit of info about your fork so that I may do some research about it. If you not willing to provide that info, fine. I was never trying to tell you what to do. You would have gathered that if you would have read any of my posts.

Since you are unwilling to provide me with the details of your fork and choose to keep provoking me, I must say that im done talking to you.

Good luck yet again with that bike.

Just about finished setting up my new bike for Winter, here it is so far;

It's a Mongoose Deception, a 29" beast of a bike. I quite like the ride, much better than my previous bike. I just need to get my flat proof tires installed and then get a new set of waterproof panniers. I don't know what I'm going to do about the basket on the back. It's not quite the right size so carrying anything results in my back hitting it.

You might try tilting the rack back a bit, it looks like it's leaning forward. That might get you enough clearance to keep from bumping into your cargo...

flipride 12-07-10 11:51 AM

@DJconspicious what is the bike light of yours? It looks seamless with your bars. Love it.

It was pretty difficult for me to install the rack without touching the disc brakes. It didn't even cross my mind that I would probably need a new rack when I converted to discs buying this bike. I have a few spacers but anymore and I would fear failure. This lean actually helps now that I have my new panniers on. They lean that way so the heel clipping is not an issue.

It is a Coleman Axis headlight - http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Multic...903185&sr=8-42

It's meant to wear on your head, but it works so well on the bike. It's light beam on high is simply awesome, you have light coverage right at your tires all the way down to about 60 feet and it's about 12 feet wide. I also wear one of these on my head when the weather is really bad - http://www.amazon.com/Energizer-LED-...903163&sr=8-20

I have made some panniers for the bike, since my other ones were to small and doing a very poor job. You can see the ones I made in this thread - http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...rk-in-Progress -

I didn't grab any pictures of the modified bike with the panniers, but here are the panniers and then the bike after some more modifications -

I'm working on something right now so I can make the fenders hug the wheel. My idea is to use bungee cords and a few zip ties. I will put a zip tie on each side of the fork and make a connection point for the bungee cord on the fender and stretch the cord from the fender to the zip tie on the fork. I don't know how well this will work but it's worth a try.

And about the rack and the disc brakes -
http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/2204/13imag0322.jpg

The angle it's at is because of this area, it's a sweet spot because the rack sits nice and tight without touching any moving parts, but it stinks because the rack is at such an angle. Oh well, helps with mud and stuff.

Pallen, that rig looks beautiful.

One question though? What rims are those? They look like Velocity Deep V's but I've found conflicting info about them making a 700c size in silver with a machined sidewall.
