Johnnnyc, if that first pic is a shot of your commute, then I'm mad jealous. But I'm definitely not jealous of your very pretty hipster velo, rocking neither brakes nor foot retention (although I am slightly jealous of the AT-AT spoke card
).
holiday76, veeeery nice bicycle you've got there.
The last bits for my new build showed up today (mostly new, like 70%). It's been on the road and running for several days now, but I was finally able to mount fenders and the rack today. So, fully dorked out, I present the new dorkcycle, the Oliphaunt:

Obligatory chainline shot:

What's New:
Frame: 2010 Motobecane Outcast 29
Fork: Salsa Fargo
Rear Wheel: Handspun Pavement Series 2, Velocity Dyad Rim, Shimano Alfine 8 Hub
Alfine Trigger Shifter
Rack: Tubus Locc
Kryptonite Evo4 Mini U-Lock
What's Old:
Nitto Albatross bars, Brooks B-17 saddle, MKS Lambda pedals, Sugino XD2 cranks, Avid BB7 disc brakes, Avid FR-5 brake levers, Tektro RL740 interrupter levers, Nokian Extreme 294 tires, Planet Bike Cascadia fenders, Planet Bike 2 Watt Blaze headlight, Dinotte 140L taillight, Monkeylectric spoke lights, Kryptonite New York Noose chain w/Evo4 disc lock.
The Oliphaunt weighs in at a svelte 48 lbs with locks and lights. It's basically my attempt to build up a bike as close to a Retrovelo Paul as I can, without going over $1500. Upright riding position, IGH, fat tires (I'll be running Schwalbe Big Apples in the summer), fenders, and rack; everything but the dyno hub. Maybe when next year's AK state dividend rolls in, because, as you can see, this year's has been blown.
Also, a 29er with 'cross components? All you brakeless hipsters can suck the exhaust from my double-decker bandwagon.

I just finished a one hour commute from the store (it's 2 AM here, best time to go to the store this time of year), and I am sitting in front of my space heater and I pulled the hot hands out of my gloves and am just playing with them in my hands. I'm not too cold but there is a slight wind that makes it feel much colder.

Here are two of mine. One is the Jamis exile. It is pretty much my quick commuter. The other is the Surly Long Haul Trucker. It is my primary all weather commuter.

I decided I should try out putting a rear rack and something to hold stuff on my Windsor Shetland and see how it works out. So I looked through my availiable rear racks put on this Bontrager rack and some cheap Nashbar panniers I had laying around and here it is. I guess I didn't stuff the panniers with anything, but I didn't get any heel strike even with my toes on the pedals. I didn't really have any issues fitting up the rack at all. I guess now I need to find some fenders. I don't have anything that I know of lying around that will work though.

Two Stumpers, possibly both from 1986. One is "full fledged" the other is the Sport model. One typically stays at the office for lunchtime errands and the like, the other goes between home and work. For the moment, the black one does the work-home run. It's got the lights.

The blue one is really a bit small for me, but with that stem and seatpost it works pretty well.

Just thought i would show you guys my sons new bike i got him for xmas, should provide for a good ride to and from school. I was starting to get sick of how slow he would ride on his small bike with the 16" wheels, so now he's got 20" wheels and gears

My youngest just moved to riding on 24's (20's on her townie) and loves it.
She wants me to stud her tyres so she can winter ride.

Hmm... I was just thinkin' The elevated chainstays on that frame would make it easy for a IGH/Gates carbon drive conversion.
