XB, how do you like those tires? Hadn't heard of them before, but those may be my next tires.

So far the tires have been fine. Only downside is they are fairly heavy. I haven't logged enough miles to comment on their flat resistance but they seem like they will hold up pretty well.

Thank you. That is kind of a crappy cell phone pic but in real life it's pretty amazing. I've been paranoid about locking it up because I don't want any nicks in the paint (but right now my hands are tied because my other two bikes need some work that I haven't gotten around to doing... one has a wheelset that's totally worn out, another has a broken spoke that I need to fix).

I just love looking at the Schwinn catalogs from that era. It all started when I fixed up a 1989 Schwinn traveler for a friend of mine. I really liked it, but i didn't know how much I probably liked it. I figured I would look up and see if I could find info on it. If I remember right it was his Dads and it was passed down to him. The 1987 Le Tour I bought a few months ago I think is the same frame. Its just so fun to ride. It just feels so fast for some reason.

One way you could protect the frame when locking it up is go buy some insulating pipe pipe foam from a hardware store. Cut off a piece just long enough to stick it some where on you main frame when you lock it up where you need ot lean it against something that might scratch it. I did this for a while with my mini velo before I stopped being paranoid about the scratches. =P Of course in general I am pretty careful about how I lock up all my bikes even the old beat up Trek I used to use.

Some really cool machines, thanks for the photos. One observation, not universal, but common, I think some folks have never heard of minimum insertion for stems and seat posts, lol, ;).

Still waiting on my rear rack, front light, and waterproof panniers (all from Nashbar). I recently put reflective tape on my bike that will become my commuter on Tuesday, so I can be seen.

Took this right after getting it home. Been riding it to work for almost a week. Waiting for my next paycheck to start adding panniers and more importantly: a water bottle holder. lol

Finished the paint job on the fenders today. I'll give em' a few days to dry and take more pictures of the whole bike.

This paint job is not my style but it looks great. I hope to see more photos of the complete bike.

Bad ass. Especially the yellow. I'm thinking of converting my Hard Rock to SS for bomb-proof city/MUP riding.

Thanks. Yours sports the color mine came to me with - I paid $36 off ebay. Shipping $4 more than the bikes price!
SO far, I expect the tab to come in around $150, total.

Finally, three and a half months after first approaching my LBS with a build idea for my perfect commuter, she is home! I have been commuting since July 20 on my old road bike, so tomorrow will be my first day on the new commuter bike. I will post a ride report in a few weeks.
