Frameset was bought in '89 but I'm guessing it was built in the late '70s or early '80s.
Ishiwata 022 steel throughout. Burnt metallic orange. Built for 27" wheels but I'm running 700C with "normal" reach Shimano Exage single pivots. Truvativ 4D 5-bolt 94mm BCD triple crank used as a double with 44x29 Ritchey chainrings. Deore LX front changer, 600 rear changer, with indexed bar-end shifters. 11-28 7-speed HG cassette. |
I finally got a new digicam so here is a picture of the Bomber, an old all-rigid Specialized Rock Hopper that I bought for $40 at a garage sale. Its first purpose was to pull the twins' trailer but I've started to use it as a grocery-hauler, errand runner, and occasional commuter. As the weather turns this fall, I'll probably slap some fenders on it and commute with it every day. The rack and panniers from REI triple the Bomber's monetary value.

By far this has been my biggest bang for the buck cycling related purchase, ever.

My race bike/commuter
Here's mine. It actually is a race bike, but I mainly use it for my daily commute, which is a 15 miles one way. Roads are exellent troughout, and I like to ride relatively fast, I usually do about 18-19 mph. I always have a small backpack with me with underwear, etc. I have a locker at work, so I usually don't carry much.

Nice ride, Swifty. You would happen to be the Hobby Talk Johnny Lightning Swifty would you?

Thanks xB_Nutt. I can attest that I am not Hobby Talk Johnny Lightning Swifty. Just Swifty. Nice to meet you!:p |
Here's my occasional commuter/errand bike/tool around town/grocery getter...
Uncle Duke is a 1980ish Fuji S12-S that I got on eBay and brought back to life. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...e/DSCF2121.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...uke/th_TOV.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...h_DSCF2169.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...h_DSCF2177.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...h_DSCF2172.jpg |

Swank ride! Beautiful looking bike. --A |
Here's my Trek 7.3 FX with Freddy Fenders, and Trek Interchange rack and bag. It's been a slow build because money is not being nice to me right now, but soon I'll have some lights on here and some waterbottles after I figure out how I want to do the battery for the lights. Maybe some bar ends or trekking bars eventually too. Sorry about the crappy cell phone pic. My regular camera's battery was dead and I didn't feel like finding the charger and waiting a day or so to charge.

New commuter shaves off time

Today was my first day to commute on the new bike; 05 Redline Conquest. I've been riding the 16 miles on a 1994 Mongoose mountain bike. I had no idea how hard I was working until this morning. The fenders keep things nice and clean too. Now I just need a headlight and some panniers...though the free rubbermade bin has a lot going for it. This is a big improvment over the milk crate I had on the MTB; waterproof, semi-aerodynamic, rigid to protect my lunch etc. Maybe I'll wait a while yet on those panniers. Thanks to all on this forum who have inspired me to begin commuting earlier this year! For those who are wondering, avg speed on the MTB with nobbies was always around 14 mph and with the cyclocross gearing and 700x25 road tires my average today was 17.5. When these tires wear out I will still probably go to at least a 28 for those times I need to abandon the pavement in a hurry.

I have a 10 mile commute and it rarely rains here so I ride my road bike in to work a couple times a week.
A guy I work with commutes at least 4 days a week on his race bike, a Cannondale Six13. He's a CAT1 racer though so all he owns are race bikes. :D Here's my commuter bike: http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/958/img4318a2wvsw8.jpg |

This is my ride. It's old, heavy, and indestructible (like its owner.) I cruise this monster 15 miles daily for my commute, plus any extra mileage that I throw in from running errands around the neighbourhood. http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload...7-b5595122fa3e This is the troll doll that I attribute all my good biking mojo to. It's been there for 15 years, through all sorts of trail wipe-outs that should have killed me, and few right-hooks and one head-on collision which I managed to walk away from all of them. |

http://members.optusnet.com.au/~pete...0/gallery.html Nice machine and same vintage as mine. I threw racks, paniers and fenders on my silver Mongoose Sycamore (sans suspension fork) and a set of IRC Advantagepro street tires. For night riding, I have a set of rear red blinking lights and a 10W 12 volt BLT helmet light. It looks ridiculous during the day, but I get an awful lot of respect at night with it. |

Look familiar, Tango6? I liked your idea of the Brooks saddle, but thought the Selle An-Atomica fit the Bianchi’s Italian heritage a little better. Plus it will keep the wife happier, longer… |
guys I am very curious about the white wooden panel background. I have see a lot of bikes here taken with this same background. Does this means all these bikes comes from the same house or ??? Most houses in the States have the same white wooden panel??
