Hi,
This is my go to anywhere bike (missus banned from the bedroom, though :-)). 2011 Tricross Comp. Changed the pedals to XT trekking pedals and added fenders. Otherwise, stock. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5449/6...733f7dcdca.jpg You also have the option of throwing a rack & panniers on there if desired or needed (groceries, winter commuting depending on where you live, etc). Cool ride! :thumb: |
Here is the latest configuration of my Salsa Fargo. Went on an 80 mile gravel road ride last Saturday with the setup pictured. I think I actually prefer this setup more than my full fenders and slicks.

My 2011 520, got my front rack and front panniers in the mail right now. Just got my Tubus cargo back rack yesterday.

Ah, so jealous of those of you with 520s. Nice bikes.

Finally sorted out to my complete liking:

Here's mine. A 2009 Surly LHT with a single Ortlieb Rear Classic Roller. http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/m...r/IMG_0293.jpg

^ That is a proper touring bike. Did you post the picture in the wrong thread?

That Redline looks like my dream commuter, I love that. I also really like that Fargo, the 520s, and the LHT.
Fixed gear commuter (main) http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...9/DSCN1078.jpg honestly the stock version is perfect in its own right. I can almost say its a bargain. With the 2012 10 speed Tiagra 4600 build - its a ton of bike for the MFG pricing (which will be lower at the LBS eventually). I just knew I'd eventually modify it so I decided to do it upon its initial build up with a whole new groupset/brakes. That single speed commuter build is beautiful in all black. A quick suggestion: since the bike is all black and used as a commuter you can buy whole sheets of super durable/industrial grade black reflective 3M tape on eBay (multiple sheets for under $10). It looks invisible on a black frame and actually is very very reflective. Here's my old black bike with reflective tape on the frame/rack/rims. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4104/...3bbfaa5f47.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4133/...aeede96b16.jpg It really was invisible and perfect for cable rub protection areas too. But very reflective in the dark too. |

Here's my commuter/ truck/ beast of burden:
http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/z...2/P1000750.jpg I've had her since she was brand new back in '86. Many component groups, h-bar/ stem combos and wheels later, and she's still going strong! Kind of 'my' version of a Rivendell type rig, but with the option to use different size wheels, thanks to Kent Ericksen and the Moots Mounts! Alan :thumb: |
It would be perfect if you'd just get some blue tires for it.

Thank you, I was actually planning on getting some black reflective tape for it but I wasn't aware you could get it on ebay for that cheap. I plan on both putting it on the frame and rack as well as in between the spokes on the rims.
Here's the bike with lock, rear blinky, and front light. The lock was fun because you can buy new skins from kryptonite - so I bought the red colored skin to match the bike better. I put black reflective tape on the rims and as a new chainslap guard. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7179/7...70af71be_b.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5456/6...7067604b_b.jpg with flash you can really see how the black reflective tape turns really white/reflective. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7190/6...d4fe5001_b.jpg |
That bike is the poster child for hotness.
