Here is my newest commuter that I plan to be my new primary commuting bike. Its a Citta Gazelle minivelo I got on eBay on a tip from a member on the Folding Bike forum. I plan to add a rear rack and panniers and do a dropbar conversion. Its pretty great just what I was looking for. It performed well on the commute on Friday and was wonderful on the 20+ mile ride I took this morning. Here are some pics from this morning's ride.

That Giant Seek is so cool -- yet it's almost like the Bad Boy I used to own and later sold. There's another model at my LBS with an Alfine 8sp. I should test-ride it to see how much I like its IGH.

Well, even though I started a new thread for this one, I'll post it here as well. Custom build using a Surly Disc Trucker frame, Shimano Alfine 8 IGH, and Avid BB7 brakes.

LOL I had to look "ponking" up to see what it meant. The frame seems plenty stiff but its not as responsive as my Windsor Shetland, but thats not surprising given their relative geometry. The Citta has a 42 inch wheelbase which seems fairly long.

Seasonal changes.
From this: http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/y...dley/bmblB.jpg To this: http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/y...dley/cbike.jpg I wanna go all black, but the yellow is so eye catching, and local drivers are so... you know. Anyway, skinny summer tires means that I can fit a front derailleur, which means that I can run a bigger chainring. Which is great, since, come summer, the lack of ice and studded tires had me spinning out on the 42 tooth on several local downhills. Plus clicky-clicky indexed shifting (I know a lot of people disagree, but I really hate bar-end shifters on drop bars) and clipless pedals (not pictured) and I'm loving my very brief, very speedy commute. Which is great, as my slow whip, the day-glo cruiser, is busted (and no, I don't want to talk about it). :(

I've been commuting, every work day (and to church n Sunday) for three weeks now.
Here's my ride: http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=254711 It's a Dimaondback Edgewood hybrid. My current commute is about 9 miles roundtrip, with an assist from the local MTA. By summer's end, I hope to be making one leg (into work) without the MTA lift, that's 14.5 miles one way. |
Decided to switch things up and ride the Rawland:

My daily beater is in the shop right now, so I'm riding my "weekender" for my commute these few days.
