Here's my '93 Fisher Calydon that I built last month to replace my Giant TCX I was using ( I wanted to put it back to cyclocross use). I mostly built it because I was enamored with that weird rear derailleur. I've ridden it a couple of times to work and it's a bit of a tank, but it's fun. I modified with the stem adapter/ bars/ and bar end shifters. |
Wow, chainstay-mounted RD, that's a new on one me! Does it work well?

While not quite as nice as @Brentone, my trusty road commuter got a long overdue deep clean this weekend consisting of full disassembly and cleaning of the entire drivetrain, plus installation of a new KMC chain (3rd chain on this bike). The bike is about to hit 9,000 miles.

This bike is in the process of being replaced. Apparently having bikes against trucks doesn't do well for the bike.
I sometimes use the trailer if I have too much stuff to carry. On truck day I left it at home. Oh, I'm fine, just bruised. The bike is totaled. But I have a new bike ordered. Life is good. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/573/2...03564f47_z.jpg Travoy trailer on my commuter bike by curtis corlew, on Flickr |
Ok I'll throw my hat into the ring, here is my only bike for now I am commuting on.http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/z...pssxxeltdm.jpg

That Travoy system looks pretty sweet. On the Burley website I only see a seatpost hitch, did you just ziptie to your rack or something? EDIT never mind, I found the accessories page with the rack-mount. |

Looks like a painted Motobecane frame. Unless they have Ti frames, I don't know.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=494333http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=494334 Recently I got the itch to make some additional changes. I ended up upgrading a few more things on the commuter: - replaced saddle and seatpost - replaced riser handlebar to trekking bar with Ergon grips (wrapped the bar with cork tape after the photo was taken) - replaced quill stem to threadless stem - replaced clipless pedals to platform pedals. - added handlebar bag http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=494335http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=494336http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=494337 |

wow, that's pretty #2. Never heard of Civia - went to their website and not seeing any drop bar bikes with disks. Did you modify?
It was designed for 700c wheels but I went with 650b instead. The current build is: King headset Shimano Pro Vibe stem, bars, & seatpost 6800 crankset/bottom bracket 6700 rear derailleur 6700 front derailleur 5700 shifters Tiagra 12-30 cassette and 4601 chain TRP Spyre brakes WTB i23 650b rims to XT hubs 650bx42 Compass Babyshoe Pass tires Adamo Road saddle |
my commute is about 10 miles so I only use a backpack. I have an orange sealine urban rolltop bag that I've been using for almost 4 years now- great bag.

My new commuter is a 2016 Giant Escape 3 (I have dubbed it s-copy, as in a funky pronunciation of escape. I'm not that imaginative with names.). So far it's everything I wanted out of a commuter. I got it because the shop I took my huffy to told me the BB & front hub needed over hauled, along with a few other minor things (it was about $70 less to have my huffy professionally overhauled). So far it's completely stock, with the exception of the water bottle holder. Oh, and a vittoria randonneur on the rear.

Thanks! It's a 2010 frame that was available at the time with drop bars and discs. They have a split drive-side dropout for a belt so you see a lot of them setup that way, but they also came with a Tiagra drivetrain option. I got this one in trade as a frameset and it's been through a few iterations, with that pic being what it is now (except for the crankset, which is now 6800).

The top one is my usual commuter bike - it's a 48cm 2001 Univega Modo Volare, rides very smooth, but sometimes struggles with the terrible roads of Pittsburgh (see: cobblestone streets). It's been through a lot. The bottom one is my winter bike (treaded tires for snow and stuff), although I haven't used it as much this winter! It's just a basic vintage Schwinn, although it rides pretty nicely and the wide cruiser saddle feels like I'm sitting in a cloud. |
