Nice!

Could you provide the specs on that front fender as I'm looking for one to use on the MTB I have in Germany.

Thanks!

Very nice! I'd be tempted to put bullhorns (handlebars, not real ones, sheesh!) on this beast.

This is my work-end lock-up beater.

Early 90s C'Dale M800 "Beast of the East" with typical cracked off plastic cable guides, 2-3 layers of spray bomb.
- Double chainring (med, low) front shifted by Fox shock lockout switch to Suntour FD.
- 8sp out back shifted by cheap Gripshift to Sachs New Success RD.
- Innova studded tires.
Not shown:
- I bring a clipon rear fender with me, carry stuff in a Chrome backpack.
- Bontrager Flare 1.5 blinky on my helmet; Niterider 350lumen hbar mount.

I can't find studded tires in Birdy folding bike tire size (18"), so I do a two-bike commute, dedicated commuter to the bus station; bus; this bike to work. Once chances of snow and ice are over, this will come back home and resume mtn bike duty.

What does that mean? You were able to repurpose a handlebar switch for locking out forks, instead for moving a derailleur?

My most recent commuter build. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=357631 It's a Habanero Ti frame with Mavic Open Pros on Gatorskin 25's and SKS Longboards. I've only had it up and running for a week, but am finding it quite adequate for non ice and snow commutes.

is the coffee thermos bike specific? or do the bottle cage and thermos just work together?

The later, they just work together. It did, however, take me some time to find a thermos that fit the cage right.

I haven't regretted my purchase of a used Habby frame. It's a workhorse.

I used to take pictures of every person (and bike) I would see commuting! It was fun to check out everyone's bikes!

In the winter a thermos of *bulletproof coffee or butter tea is a great thing to carry... the 500ml thermos also fits nicely in the back pocket of my regular panniers.

* bulletproof coffee contains butter, coconut oil, cream, and vanilla... it is hot, rich, and provides some quick calories.

noglider 01-06-14 03:15 PM

Can you post a recipe for that?

Weird. Today was the first time I've heard of bulletproof coffee and I have read about it on two separate forums.

If you do a quick google search for it you'll find quite a few recipes for it. It appears that there is some difference of opinion as to what it is and how it is made.

WestMass 01-07-14 09:36 AM

yeah recipe for that please!

noglider 01-08-14 11:41 AM

65er sent me the recipe in an IM (google chat). I suspect he won't mind my reposting:

1 tbsp coconut oil, 1 tbsp butter (grass fed is best), 1 tsp vanilla, and whipping cream to taste... melt the oil and butter and use a small whisk to mix.

Exactly. Works like a friction shifter, but the swing/cable pull is only long enough to shift one gear; not enough to shift over three rings.

This is it, here:

Bike not handy, so I can't get a shot of it on the bike just yet.

Discgo 01-08-14 10:52 PM

My bulletproof coffee recipe is 1 tbsp unsalted butter, one tbsp coconut oil and coffee of choice blended and then dumped into my 21oz hydroflask vacuum bottle. My go juice of choice every morning.
