Very interesting. They're actually quite different from my bridgestone, the bars on that back merely sweep back a bit. Those are intriguing though, and as I'm planning on rebuilding the aforementioned bridgestone anyways, those look like a real possibility.

don't worry about chep, bikes are bikes , better to have something you can haul around and fix for cheap, than spending big cash for a name/logo.:)

Is this ever a nice commuter! It's a hybrid by Koga Miyata which is a Dutch brand. Currently I'm a proud owner of the older Terraliner but the ones coming out now, same features, but spiffy looking! To my idea their attention to detail is superb and one of those things are the frames with super smooth welds. There's lots of small things about these bikes that makes the finished product just look ... kick ass! There is a price tag though ... $2,200 CAD.

I have seen a couple of people on this forum with the World Traveler.

They were not available in the US for a while. I think for two years now they have been available. Right now, their website only shows two dealers in the US, one in California and the other in Chicago.

Sorry, and a little picture of the welds. This is from one of their road bikes, but the same technique is used on most of their bikes.

It's soooo freaking to bad that there are just two dealers in the US! I mean, the quality of their bikes is amazing and ... yes, it costs a bit more, but you get a lot for it. Actually I want a Jersey of Koga as well haha, I'll have one of my Dutch friends maybe send a couple over, but for the rest. I think I am in love with this bike!

Here's my bike at the school rack w/ my 5 yr old's. Can't see the 2 PB superflashes between the panniers on the rack at the back (they're not on in this pic anyway).

My commuter is a 2006 rockhopper with a rigid fork. I made the newbie mistake of buying a bike that was a bit big and I never was comfortable with it off-road so I turned it into my all-purpose bike. I have nashbar trekking bars on there, a brooks champion flyer (though I'm experimenting with a Specialized BG saddle), freddy fenders, a blackburn rack and Novara transfer panniers.

As for lights, up front I have a Planet Bike Alias 15w, a cateye el-500, a planet bike beamer 3 set on blink mode, and cateye blinkie on the forks. In the back I have a planet bike superflash bolted to the rack which is always on blink mode, a cateye el6000 (or is it 600?), a planet bike brt-7, and a stick on car reflector bolted to a reflector bracket on the seapost. Though I'm likely going to ditch the fork lights, the beamer 3, and the cateye rear light. I'm also waiting on a "slow moving-vehicle" triangle to come in the mail to hang off the left pannier.

Here's my Cannondale F500. Skinny tires (Tom Slick), Night Sun light, Planet Bike blinky, SKS fender and front mud flap, a new rear cluster -- 12-23 -- that's perfect for my flat ride 16.5 mile round trip commute. I keep the Mtn wheels and wide range cluster for the rare (usually Tahoe vacation) days I get in the dirt.

Do you like that fender setup you have. I know it probably just keeps the spray off but is it pretty effective.

Thanks. I love the Karate Monkey concept. I first had it built up as a rigid geared 29er mountain bike, then added a front suspension and now it is serving my single speed commuter need. Who knows what will be next...

Lost the reflectors, dork disk and suicide levers. Forte GT2 Kevlar Road tires, WallyWorld Cyclo computer, handlebar bag, KoolStop pads in front, rear rack and chrome bottle cage. :D

Money adds up fast for the "little" stuff.
