Terrific riding weather. High 50s. Calm wind. I was getting on the MUP and a rider going the other way yelled, "Hi Jim!", which startled me. It was a co-worker. Guess he left something at home. I also saw bmike from these forums. First time in a while!

I caught up to a trail regular. Younger guy on a mountain bike. Rode behind him the rest of the way in. 14-16MPH.

After work my wife is riding in, we're going to have a couple of beers, some food, and ride home together.

I think it was 62 when I rode past Southport high school. Absolutely perfect.

Took a detour on the way home to catch Chasing Legendswith a friend. Very good documentary if you have any interest, even remote, in pro cycling and the Tour de France. Highly recommended.

The theatre is on top of a hill (relative to my office and my apartment), so the ride after the movie was fun. A sustained 25 mph for a couple minutes w/o pedalling! Flat from there...

Nice ride in this AM and the weather is cooler and drier, too, which should make for very nice weather up in the Shenandoah this weekend when I'm camping. If it's gonna be cooler and drier down here, it should be REAL nice at 3500 feet. Looking fwd to the three day weekend!

Skeeters are bad all of the sudden. Thought I was going to have a nice little race up a hill with another guy on a road bike, but no, I'm still the king of the mountain.

52F, misty

spent the 1st part of the ride arguing weather w/ my 9 yr old. He thought it was sprinkling, I think of that as wetter than mist. We pretty much agreed it wasn't fog.

The ride in was nice today. I took what is becoming my new regular route (eight miles one-way with less traffic, more enjoyable and more mileage). Saw two bicyclists, what looked like a father and son on mountain bikes with city tires. Waved and said hey before leaving them in the dust .

Brilliant morning with clean clear air, low 70s temp and not significant humidity to speak of. A couple roadies passed me going in the opposite direction, not riding together, just going the same way. Had a chain get caught between chainrings at a stoplight, so I had to do the shuffle to the side of the road and extract the chain. All in all more good than bad, looking forward to the ride home, might take the long way...

I had a later ride in this morning and the traffic on my short route is really annoying. I'll have to look into some better tires so I can go up the gravel MUP on the north side of the mountain on these days. Today will be a nice easy ride home on my long route as traffic will be crazy on the Friday before a long weekend.

This was my first week commuting from my house to gym which is 8 mile round trip (3x's), before I start the commute to work which is 14 miles round trip. I'm getting better about gearing and only cross chained once, but quickly noticed what was going on and corrected. I haven't had anybody yell at me from their car when passing, but I've had several cars redline the motor when passing. According to bike computer my average speed is 10mph, which sounds right since it takes me 20 minutes to go 4 miles to gym. I've always thought to have been in good shape and never had problem when weight lifting, but these short rides have killed my quads.
I've really enjoyed reading the forums on this site and have learned alot, and have quickly confused myself reading about cadence...lol.

A pleasant ride in, and there were one cyclist lit up going in the opposite direction and 2 joggers in the dark at 5:20 or so. With the clouds today the morning darkness had a feel of October. By the middle of this month, any remnants of light going back to the summer solstice will be gone at 5:10am.

I've noticed it's a bit darker in the morning, as well. I leave the house between 6:15-6:30 and this morning I turned on my front light for the first time in a few months.

This morning's ride was pleasant with temps in the mid-60s. I was running a few minutes late, so I pushed myself--which on a 40lb bike takes some doing. I got buzzed by one person, but other than that it was an uneventful ride.

A little bit humid this morning. High 60sF. Headwind. It's one of those Mondays that I had to force myself into. Someone send me 10 billion dollars so I never have to wake up before I want to. Thanks in advance.

Just got back after a week of vacation, and I definitely noticed a tad less daylight when I left for work this morning. It was cooler (69 F) than it was during any commute during the month of July here. We came within one day of setting a record for the hottest July but an unseasonably cool day on Saturday blew it. What a shame to suffer through such a miserable July and have it turn out to be only the second-hottest on record. The cool temps made for a great ride on Saturday, though, and I was climbing better than I had in weeks.

54F, foggy.

My son may have broken his coccyx, he had an alarming bruise centered right there last night after a freak playground slide accident, but he biked in too. It is above his sitbones, I suppose.

Well, the commuting gods punished me this morning... I woke up a bit late and since I have to bring some training materials home that I can't carry on the bike, I figured I'd drive. On the way I drove through Del Taco to get a quick bite. While waiting a while, I shut the car off... no sense idling for 5 minutes. When I went to start it back up, the friggin' battery was dead! I finally got it started and made it to work. Just one more reason to ride the bike and not take the car...

Yep, cars are unforgiving when they sit too long, especially in the winter.

It was a good ride in, and the weather is just great. Two foxes at different places crossed my path this morning, and both looked healthy. It must be
their time of year.

Damp today. It rained pretty hard over night. High 60sF. Headwind. I was starting to reel in a couple of roadies but a trail regular on his mountain bike came out in front of me and was only going 13-15mph so I decided to relax and let him pace me. Exercise is over rated.

Yesterday I stayed at work for an extra 30 minutes due to bad thunderstorms, and that got me home dry, but I saw several soggy cyclists and pedestrians on the MUP.

The weather yesterday was incredible compared to most of this summer, with a high in the mid-80s after weeks and weeks of temps ranging from 95-100+. What is amazing to me is that the temperature yesterday was actually pretty close to the normal, long-term average high for this time of year, yet it felt cool because of the hot summer we are having. Unfortunately, the weather is supposed to return to the mid and upper 90s for the rest of the week with high humidity as well. Oh well, only 7 more weeks of summer.

Back from a long weekend camping today, so I felt good and fresh, especially since rain kept my from hiking to the falls I wanted to go see.

All thoughts now on getting some work done the next few days and then leaving Saturday AM for my firts overnight bike tour (an out and back on the C&O Canal). Very exciting...

Decent ride in. Heavy cloud and the threat of rain prompted me to take my heavier, slower, fendered up bike, so it took a few minutes longer. It didn't end up raining in the end (it's quite sunny now, in fact), but oh well, it's good for me to ride my all-weather bike sometimes, even on the nice days.
