Wet ride in this morning, light mist when I left home but raining fairly good by the time I got to work. I'm sick of the rain around here! We've only had one day of full sun in the past 2 weeks. Supposed to clear up tomorrow so I am looking forward to that.

The morning ride started at home on the "bench" at the base of the Wasatch mountains, above the Salt Lake Valley. Low 50's with a nice strong breeze coming down from the mountains. As I got onto the valley floor, it warmed up noticeably, and the wind was completely gone.
I rode the last mile or so of my commute with a very friendly commuter who was very curious about my Nexus 8 hub.
Hit the showers (one of the best parts of my day) and had a couple eggs - life is good!
Now I'm at my desk, longing to be in the mountains........

Ride in this morning was nice, felt really cool at 80! Yesterday's ride home, not so nice at 101 degrees, especially since our AC is out so I couldn't cool off when I got home. Today's high 103 and no breeze, hopefully the repair guy will have the AC fixed by the time I get home!

Cleveland, Oh. 68 degrees at 5 am today. Glad my commute starts b/4 the sun is up.( I'll eat them words going home.) A bit humid when I rode down into the valley but traffic was lite as always. The weather for tomorrow is calling for hot temps and hard/ heavey rain storms. I love the pitter patter sound of raindrops on my helmet. Ride Safe all...Paul

Same here 67 to start, suppose to be 85 by quiting time.
I usually leave by 6-6:30 as traffic is light, but last couple mornings it has been heavier.
I wondering if folks are going in early in order to get out early.

yes, my boss suggested it when I started. It helps avoid the worst traffic. I do an 8-4 instead of a 9-5. In truth though I get here at 7:15, and even after showering changing, cleaning my bike and filling the bird feeder I'm still ready to work by 7:45. getting on the road at 6:30 am is early enough for me! I get home at 5:00 which is sweet especially when my kids have sports and I have to fix dinner before we go

I wonder if the economy has anything to do with the lite traffic. I travel a 1/2 mile section of road that always gets my hair to stand on end during my ride home. ( all 3 of them hairs). The last few months traffic does seem lighter. Ride Safe...Paul

Same as yesterday; 10 miles, 85 min, 47 w/ near-8 yr old going 3.5 miles to camp, then 6.5 miles to work. Warm and ... well, it's like sunny, the cloudy sky was light.

Please let me tell you about Monday's commute.
My primary bike was in the shop Monday, and the backup bike has a flat and ghost-shifts all the time, and my legs were really tired, so I decided to drive. This would be my first time driving to work since probably February or March. I was taking my time in the morning and packing up a heavy bag to take advantage of the car. Suddenly my phone rang, it was my wife. As soon as I pick up she said, "I'm so sorry."
"What for?" I asked.
"I have your keys."
OK, I now had to ride the backup to the backup bike, my old Specialized MTB. I took the rack off it years ago so I had to wear the backpack. Since it was already packed I brought the heavy load in anyway. Needless to say, carrying >25 pounds on the MTB sucked.
I got home that afternoon, opened the garage door with the remote, and tried to let myself into the house. D'oh! My wife still had my keys and I locked the door without thinking about it that morning. Normally I could go in the back door because I usually forget to lock it after letting the dog out in the morning, but THAT morning my wife had let him out for the first time in months and she always locks the door. Sigh.
OK, I decided to use the time well and mow the lawn. We have an electric mower, one where you have it plugged in while you mow. I was about 90% done with the lawn when I smelled something funny, like burning plastic. I looked down at where the cord plugs into the mower and there were flames coming out of it...and the flames were singeing the hair off my hand and arm!!! I let go of the switch, the mower turned off, the circuit breaker blew (a little late!), and the flames went out.
My take-away message: don't even THINK about driving to work ever again.

70 degrees heading in today and 93 heading home. Unusually potent allergies combined with heat & intense sun coming home produced one heck of a headache. I was thankful for every rare copse of trees providing shade and a couple seconds of relief. This is one day that I'm just glad to get home.

Last commute. What a doosey.
Extra riders heading home from bike to work day resulted in a few impromptu races. Won half. Lost half.
Anyhow, when I hit my suburb a lightning storm hit me with the usual (lightning, rain, hail, and wind).
It was an amusing ride to say the least.

Hey DataJunkie, pick a Starbucks 10 miles away or so and commute to it and back every day.

Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.
That's silly. Before getting to the Starbucks 10 miles away, you'd pass nine others.

No Starbucks on my commute. Anyway, on the way in it was 70 degrees, but the humidity was extremely high. I was soaked by the time I got to the office. On the way back home, it was a little cooler than yesterday and had a really nice trip.

Oh, I forgot. This morning I rode for a ways with a garden rake across my handle bars. My son needed to use it in the mid morning and he didn't think he could carry it on his bike. I'm glad he didn't try, he's awkward enough without a rake to hold on to.

The clouds looked like they were ready to open up, so I turned around and grabbed my rain jacket (Nashbar Sauna Suit
) It turned out I didn't need it. My rear RaceBlade fender was rubbing, so I had to stop to adjust it. No flats, and I didn't get creamed- it was a good ride
Tonight there was very little traffic. The gas station I pass was getting a delivery. It's $2.56/gallon now, tomorrow who knows... July 4th weekend will be interesting. The Weather Channel is calling for scattered showers... That means Cape Cod automobile gridlock!

absolutely magnificent this morning. Rode in nice and easy, 8 miles in 30 minutes. Piping Cheap Tricks greatest hits the entire way in on the mp3. Temp was about 75 and the humidity was perfectly managable.

Woo! Ride fast and you'll take off!
My wife and I were in Vancouver a couple of months ago. Lovely city you've got there. We rode a tandem around Stanley Park.
Anyway, this morning's commute was warm-ish. Sunny, 70F or so, and humid. Only saw a couple of cyclists.
