Sounds exactly like my ride this morning. Extremely soggy. I do hope that my riding clothing is partially dry by the time it is time to go home tonight.

50sF and sunny, nice! Passed a mom and ~8 yr old on the trail in a location where they could only have been on a multi mile commute, pretty cool.

Barely made it...

Woke up at 6:00 am to the sounds of long rolling thunder. Alarm doesn't go off until 6:15 am. Look outside to see a sea of grey clouds but still no rain. Roll over and wait for alarm (1st mistake). One dog is going crazy because of the storm, and he knows when they will be bad.

Out of shower and all packed up at 6:30 am. Sounds of thunder louder, longer and closer. Look outside and see a wall of black fast approaching from the West. Only have a 2 mile commute, decide to have a bowl of cereal with soy milk (mistake #2).

Hear what sounds like a ton of hammers falling onto steel roof. 6:40 am, about 5 minutes before I usually leave, but decide to try and outrun the beast. On bike and hauling a$^ to work. Have a rain jacket but only cargo pants. Torrential downpour but no lighting, although I do have "that feeling".

Pull onto ramp to front door, lock bike and when I look back, everything was black and it looked like complete darkness.... Walked into lobby and secretary looks at me like I am psychotic (or maybe the look was because it looked like I wet myself after chugging a 64 oz drink). Change into uniform and go to work. All my co-workers look at me like I just drank a bleach colata.....

Laugh at them and then see that I have 3 missed calls. Wife making sure I didn't get struck down by lightning....

For the commute home, it looks like hail!

Smoooooth with new bearings bottom and rear. Tried out new grips that have a flattened wide palm area - mostly comfy, but my grip was slipping in a very light mist.

It was hailing like mad a few minutes ago, looks like I'll have sunny skies on the way home though.

Overcast with moderate temps for the ride up; arm warmers, no leg warmers kinda ride. It is getting cooler now, winds picking up again; it looks like it will be another blustery ride down the mountain tonight.

This morning was very pleasant....mid 60's and the cagers all behaved well. I managed to get caught at 2 lights, but I really did not care this morning.
Hopefully the return trip in about 30 minutes is just as nice.

Fun ride, fast, and I am becoming noticeably stronger. I guess lots of miles does that.

I share your pain.

My work day ends after a short bike commute a few miles up the road for another meeting. I just stuck my head out my office door.......I think I better put the vest on

Weather was fine, same middle aged dude with the uber reflective vest went past me on his bike and waved, I'm in a serious funk but I managed to smile back. Us cyclists can be a friendly lot, no?

I got up over 20 km/h this am, taking out my anger etc on the road I guess.

The sleeves on my shirt were still damp. So were my shoes. Other than that, no rain on the ride home, and my wife met me around the halfway point and rode back home with me. I had a killer tailwind pushing me. My wife was complaining about riding into it but she liked it once she turned around.

crazy pm; colossal accident on I5 so surface streets all flooded w/ traffic trying to avoid it. Lately I've been taking the direct route downtown to get my 4 yr old, which involves going down a long hill 2 lane one-way >30 mph w/ cars cutting out and turning right w/ scant regard to bike lane... anyway, got to a weird backup which turned out to be a biker down in an intersection, was a motorcyclist. Other folks were there w/ phones and 1st aid, and it was only a couple blocks from the fire station so once I figured there was nothing I could add I kept going, and it was more peaceful from there.

Lovely ride this morning:62F/16-ishC and calm. Moon a few days past full kept me feeling cosmic

Two nasty T-storms yesterday and I managed to miss 'em both! The one on my homeward trip was close, though. During the last mile the nasty clouds started to roil up and wind was blowing around like crazy. It's a series of stepped uphills through a residential neighborhood (when I bail on the arterial like I did yesterday), and I found some reserves I don't usually tap into. Brought 'em out again this morning.

It was very pleasant ride this morning at 60 F (15 C). The traffic was light today, and I am not sure what happened there. Will see how and if thunderstorms develop later this afternoon. Last evening, they were wild and wonderful

London has yet another subway strike (its probably coz the train drivers wanna stay home and watch soccer). But I was just fine

Vastly more traffic than normal, left my helmet at work the previous evening so no helmet this mornng either. Weather was warm, got the usual sweaty back due to rucksack. I really must get a commuter one of these days with rack/pannier/fenders.

But as usual, bike beats train.

My best time yet, man I was moving this morning... I think someone slipped a proton energy pill in my corn flakes. 53*f, cloudy almost no wind.

Morning! Rode the mtb in today....easy pace most of the way and the low gears were nice on "the hill". Only complaint was a blonde in a small black car (VW I think) decided to change lanes without looking, and damn near put me into the curb at 20+ mph
What's really bad is why she wasn't looking.....the biatch was putting on her makeup
My life, your life, and her life is equivalent to eye liner in her mind....thats just F'd up.

I am glad you acknowledged the passing fellow cyclist. I used to wave or offer a "Good Morning" as I rode by but around here my greetings were returned with a look like I was from a different planet. Now I just pass and keep my comments to myself. Maybe Vancouver is a friendlier place?
Today I passed the same green Toyota three times. Still only 8 degrees C but perfect weather for Penguins in Detroit.

Dry. No wind. Started off feeling sluggish but then for a while I was pushing around 20MPH, so I guess I warmed up.

An old couple was walking on a sidewalk that intersects the MUP. I was on the MUP, and had a stop sign, so I was slowing down anyway, for a traffic-check. Since the people were on the sidewalk, I stopped for them. The guy said, "Look at that! Isn't that nice of you to stop!" I wasn't sure what to say. I said, "I've got to stop anyway", and I pointed to the stop sign. And he said, "Well thank you!"

It's funny yet sad that people are amazed when they see a bicyclist doing the right thing.

My commute WAS... and that's a huge improvement over the last month or so, when I was sidelined by travel and the bike was out of commission with some ongoing spoke issues. Finally got a new (for me) wheelset installed last night and was able to ride in. Oh, how I missed it!!!

Ride in was nice... mid-60s, slight headwind much of the way, but man it felt good to be back in the saddle and pedaling away.

Fewer commuters than I expected to see. Have all the DC fairweather commuters on the Mount Vernon Trail disappeared over the last month? I remember seeing more riders out some of the still cold mornings in March! Oh well, easier ride for me then :-)

55 degrees (13c) and gorgeous clouds in the wake of massive storms last night. The ride home looks to be cool and stormy.

I almost hit a crazed roadie as he bolted our of his (steep) driveway onto the apex of a corner (that I was entering). He gave me a quick glance and hammered down the hill. I was like - "well good morning to you too!". Strange guy. Funny thing is, I stayed a constant distance behind him (I tend to ride pretty strong as a habit from my racing years) and passed him at some point on the flats. I gave him a polite "good morning", and was amused at his rather surprised look - as if to say "how the hell is this guy on a fendered IGH bike passing me?.

I wasn't TRYING to pass him, mind you. I was still cruising in my normal gear for that section.

The shower at the office felt great! I relished the hot water in my post-ride euphoria.

Bikes: Abio Penza & Abio Verdion - lots of them

Woke up - jumped into shower - checked the weather forecast, looked outside - 60'sF (15C) no rain - perfect!

5 minutes into the ride, the misty rain/fog from "Gorillas in the Mist" movie comes rolling in! Had to stop a few times to wipe my glasses. For some reason, when it rains (even a little mist), the cabs in NY go nuts & try to run over anyone & everyone on the road (to stick to my theme, they must be the angry gorillas)!

Road was a bit slippery but it was not bad - dodged a few cars & doormens who stand in the middle of the road waving for cabbies. It would be nice if the city bans double-parking to make mroe room for bikes (& cars).

Overall, it was all good! Looking fwd to misty ride back home later.
