Anybody feel their bike...shimmy during a stiff cross-wind? Even my heavy as #$% steel hybrid bike shimmies like a spooked horse when there's a stiff cross-wind. Freaks me out.

Second work day in a row that I've had my wife drop me off at work and ridden home. And both times I've hit a 15-20 MPH headwind. To tell you the truth it rather sucks! But still I'm riding almost 18 miles home, and I'm getting some exercise so....

Rode again today. 6 work days in a row! Strong head-wind, but temp and humidity were great.

Commute was great today. It was a beautiful morning I left the house at 4:15 am it was 51 degrees I wore a very light jacket and longsleeve t-shirt. At 2:00 pm when I left for home it was nearly 70 I was in shorts and T-shirt. Thats summer in the Pacific Northwest although it might be 80 on Thursday and then down around 65 for the high on the fourth I haven' checked the forecast this evening. Go figure. Around here cool weather in the summer is normal in fact our warmest weather doesn't hit till about the middle of July and it can get in the high 80's or 90's and that really sucks. I'm happy if it doesn't get above 75 or 80 after that its hot and that sucks

It was nice ride in, 64 F (17-18 C). I love riding in the warm weather. Every morning I have the urge to do a little sun dance, even though it is dark out. Every thing works so much better in the warm weather. Well, at least psychologically. I ran into the swarm of gnats again in the same place, but there are too many cars to move out of the curb lane. Fortunately, I go down hill after that, so they seem to roll off
my face, none worse for the wear I am sure.

Exceptional ride!! 66F, Humidity has dropped to tolerable levels. Traffic was light, I guess due to the holiday week. I dropped a car this AM too!! First time for that - he was driving down the road at ~ 20mph on a flat tire - but none the less, I passed his ass, and even though I got caught at a red light light and then had an uphill stretch, he followed but was never able to overtake me again for ~2 miles before he finally turned off. I win!!

Dark as usual. I rode my Next Street Cruiser in today. A slow but comfy ride. For a cruiser it climbs hills pretty good which is great 'cause I have 2 big ones on the way home.

Dark and actually a bit chilly. 67F with pretty low humidity can feel a bit chilly when you are used to mid to upper 70's and humidity that makes it feel like you can swim in the air.

Pleasant. Low 60sF. Not much (if any) wind. I saw a lot of cyclists going north but only one woman on a hybrid going south. I also saw a squirrel walking on the ground near a tree, and a black cat nearby eyeballing the squirrel. I made some noises to distract the cat and alert the squirrel.

Mid 70s. A little humid but I am not complaining. This will probably be the last coolish morning I get in Texas so I'm grateful I got to enjoy it. Plus a mild tailwind...I am ecstatic...

Last day of June and I had to take 5 minutes to change a tube before setting out this morning. I normally am pretty good at dodging glass but it was raining on my way home yesterday with big puddles on the road so spotting the glass was impossible. I thought the bike was a little sluggish those last few blocks.
Many of you faithful record keepers have been saying how hot and wet it has been in your area well here is my story for the last 30 days.
Average 7:00 AM temperature: 12.5* C, (54.5* F).
Average daytime high: 22* C, (71.5* F).
Number of days traveled in the rain, 10.
Kilometers traveled by Marinoni bicycle, 314.
Having peace of mind and being able to drink beer without gaining any weight,
Priceless.

Two weeks off work (with a lot of rides - just about every day). It was 63F and very pleasant. The only thing about work that I missed were the commutes!

Wasn't planning on it, but I had to...
The transmission on my wife's car (2000 Neon) decided to die. So, rather than leave her and our 3yo daughter at home all day without a car, I decided to ride in today. Our office doesn't have a shower facility so I rode to the nearest bus stop and got off a couple of blocks from work. I plan on riding the 7 miles home tonight.
I made it to work on time, but I wish I had a different reason for riding today than a dead transmission...

Great ride to work this morning. I rolled out of bed rather lazily and felt sluggish. Doesn't help that my girlfriend was sound asleep.
However, once I got the bike downstairs and took a deep breath of air I was good to go and feel great at work.

Back to work this week, back to riding today. Great weather, traffic wasn't bad.

It was a misty one this morning but enjoyable. I have been running more recently so it's nice to ride on the off days to work different muscles. The ourys get a little slick when wet so I was trying to keep my hands dry by wiping them on my shorts. My fiance' is off for the summer since she teaches so getting going in the morning has been a little challenging especially with all of the grey and mist but I am managing just fine.

I had to come into the office one last time. Apparently, this is my final commute.
It was topped off with an idiot passing me on the left (he was going straight) while I was taking a left. Tis a move I have never encountered before. I went into sprint mode to catch the idiot.... to do what I have no idea.
Jerk sped away after he noticed me giving chase.
Ah well. A fitting end.

Pleasant but about 10-20 minutes slower than usual. I had to keep rearranging the bag of groceries.
I went shopping near work and had only one way to get groceries home, my own power. :-D And I didn't break the eggs!
On the other hand, part of my commute is logging my miles on bikejournal but it seems to be broken this morning. 1:05:00 for 9.25 mi.

1st commute in a month and a half. Was up until 1AM setting up the new rig, a Novara Buzz V, just the way I want it. Holy crap, I was so anal. Have to tweak the brake levers & the seat, but otherwise, it was a nice run in. Raining, saw two other guys commuting. It's good to be back.

Pretty good tailwind this morning. My average speed for the 16 mile ride in was 19.6 mph, fastest ever for me. Should even out with ride home though.
I drove my car to work only one time in June. Very pleased with that.

only 70 min door-to-door today; my almost-8yr-old shaved 16 min off the 1st leg, to his summer camp, going from 48 min last week (which he was repeating precisely day-to-day) to 32 min today. I'm speechless.
