The weather lately has been just perfect: low 50s F, cool breeze, bright blue skies. If this can't encourage folks to participate in Bike to Work Month, I don't know what will.

Rode the race bike this morning. I'm hoping to leave the office at a civilized time and make the Thursday Night World Championships.

Is Big Ron the guy that rides the Heron?

Nope - though I did almost run into a Great Blue Heron while commuting last year

My commuter used to be a 1997 steel frame Fuji Roubaix but I am now on a shiny new Fuji Touring (Also steel). I'm pretty easy to spot - 6'4" and 240 pounds. I'll be the one eating 2 biscuits at once

Free food on the way in this morning, so it was fantastic instead of just really really good.

Yeah, I get free food tomorrow, two different places for Ride to Work Day, including donuts with the high muckity mucks downtown. I can enjoy it at my leisure since I actually have Ride to Work Day off.

Unbelievable day to ride in the Eggo today. Seriously gorgeous this morning. Perfect weather. No cars because I was running about 30 minutes late. Whew... This is what commuting is all about.

Counting down the minutes to get outta here and back on the bike for the ride home, then a nice relaxing sweat in the sauna.

Life is good, my friends...

Thunderstorms early this morning with wind gust of 20 30 mph. So I skipped the physical therapy and instead rode the new bike tothe bike shop on the way to work. The new bike needs adjusting. Had clipless pedals put on and raised the seat. We measured my instep and my other bike, which is at the shop. I still have some adjusting to do before it feels good.n

I took the long way to and from work today. The headwind coming from Vineyard Sound grew nasty as I was heading towards Falmouth Heights Beach. I then took a left and I got a reprieve. It looked like rain was coming, but I got home before anything started.

Kinda muggy, road spray from overnight rain, and even a few stray drops here and there. Saw more cars than usual, too. Curious.

Bike to Work Day in DC. I'm out early, though. The Pit Stop in College Park doesn't set up until 6:30--I'm usually asleep at my desk by then.

My ride home yesterday involved a 20-25MPH tailwind.

This morning it was calm, a little sunshine through thin overcast. Mid-50sF. I think I'll ride home through the woods today. TGIF!

Buzzman - Let's see the new rack & basket!

My commute was fine. Cloudy and 50 in - hoping for sunny and 60s for ride home. Thinking my steel bike is the commuter from the stable. I had thought the converted hybrid was but it's wheels let me down. I might save that piece of junk for family rides at 5 mph on bike trails.

Now I can shop for another old steel bike and maybe a new set of wheels and some different gearing for front or rear. Rear might be easier.

Thanks for all the suggestions yesterday on how to get my gear dry. The ride home was dry and my shoes were a little soggy but it had warmed up to 19 degrees C making for a pleasant journey. This morning was a bit nippy at 4 degrees C but the sun was up and very little wind. I am envious of the towns and cities that support ride to work week with free a breakfast. The only thing free around here is detrimental advice.

Great ride! Stopped off at the local Bike to Work Day Pit Stop, got free bananas for breakfast, a water bottle and some good company for a short while before continuing with my commute.

I purposely chose a pit stop which was not the closest to my house, and this resulted in me finding another way to add mileage to my commute when I desire to do so!

Started with a little rain, but the sun came out. Had to split commute with the bus this morning after losing sleep watching th hockey game. Nice job Hurricanes; unfortunately for you I am a Penguins fan. Anyway, thanks to Allison and gotriangle.org for arranging the free breakfast and swag to boot!! Nice talking with some local riders, though I don't think any of us ever said or asked names. Oh well, just remember to wave back while on the road. BTW: I was the big guy with the silly markings in his skin.

Dude. Beautiful morning. 51F & tailwind. Cool, clear, sunny, kids & wife saw me off. Really, mornings like today are the golden standard for bike commuting. I was running behind, took it easy, saw a light fog over the city as I came in and it was lit up by the sunrise. Sometimes I take for granted how beautiful downtown Pittsburgh can be. Decided to stop by Market Square to get some free eats. Decent amount of cyclists. Didn't see anyone going my way on the way in, probably because I was so behind, but saw the same dude I usually see coming the opposite direction. Look forward to the ride home if it's as beautiful as this morning, I actually had to wear shades.

+1 on the massage. I also recommend warm baths. They're not just for women you know. Sometimes, if I'm sore, after my shower, I'll make a hot/warm bath and soak my legs with epsom salt for at least 20 minutes. After a long ride a bath is quite amazing. Great to help prevent or treat saddles sores too!

Rode to a bike-to-work rally point at a local mall. It was a good turn out, we were given some goodies, t-shirts, water bottle and other stuff, of which we have so much. The temp was great
70 F ( 21 C), and no wind. It was cloudy and overcast, but with these temps, who cares. It is
supposed to rain later, which is fine. I took a very long route to work with a group of people
going to a similar area. The group chose paths and trails, which are ok, but they use up allot
of time. I will be going back on the roads, competing with friday afternoon traffic rushing to
get home.

Great morning for a ride! I decided to take full advantage of Bike to Work day since I have never lived anywhere where biking to work is celebrated before. I made 4 breakfast stops and had fun chatting, eating, and taking pictures at each one, probably won't even eat lunch today after 4 breakfasts! I don't have a cord for my camera here, so I'll have to post the pics next week. Hope everyone else's Bike to work day is as much fun as mine!

Yeah, I got there at like 7:10. There were three cyclists there (inlcuding myself); one of them was a city councilmember, but I can't remember which one. Those tacos they had there were AWESOME!
