Passed a City bus this morning and stayed far enough ahead that I wonder if the people watching from the bus have been inspired to start cycling?
Nah… never mind.

Nice sunny day, ca. 55F. I was freezing for most of my ride because the MUP is under a heavy tree cover (which makes it nice on hot days). I finally took my jacket off about 1 mile from the office. I hope I've turned the corner on bike commuting. This is my worst year in 4 years, as far as days ridden to work. Between all the rain and some other commitments, I rode only 2 days in May.

warm and sunny, nice view of Rainier.
Passed a lady walking her bike, took the opportunity to see if I could fix her flat w/ no tools or removing the wheel. I could pull the tire away but couldn't get the tube out, so dug out a lever for that, but no problem finding/patching the leak w/ the tire in place. I'm pretty sure that was faster than just replacing the tube would have been.

Cool and breezy. Legs were heavy after a weekend of racing.

Heh - Yeah I've outrun a city bus here once or twice. It has stops seemingly every 100 yards, and in the afternoon, people have to stop at every. darn. stop. Seems very wasteful to me, and the bus always ends up late. (I ride it from time to time so I know this.)

Bump. Chain falls off. Bump. Chain Falls off again. Bike upside down, wrench out, wheel pulled back. Chain tight.
Bump. Wheel slips forward again, chain loose, then off.

Bump. chain off.
I missed not just my train but the next one too. Dirty as heck all day. I taught in my fila and merrell getup!
I'm tightening the heck out of the rear nuts, but no luck. Maybe I'm just too afraid of wrenching something super tight on the aluminum. I don't have a class last period, so I'll see if I can get it straightened out before heading home. Grr. What sucks is that I felt very fresh and rested and looked forward to a fast ride on a clear morning.

i took off from a light one morning and i felt my wheel slip in the track ends
when i pulled the wheel back to adjust everything i just made sure to really tighten the nuts down, maybe try cleaning the surfaces that are making contact as well...worth a shot and oh, watch out for the bumps...seems like you encounter many
good luck

Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.
Home sick today, no commute.

Must have been ahead of the heavy traffic this morning. Low 50's, sun coming up over the cascades, Mt Rainier in the foreground listening to some reggae... pretty damn pleasant!

In the span of 7 days I rode close to 370 miles. I have no desire to commute until Wed.
My goodness my legs are tired.

today I rode in being paranoid b/c I didn't have a spare tube with me. Just put my last in on my front tire. I have a fresh reserve stashed at work, so immediately after arriving I tossed it in my seatbag. I got about halfway home this afternoon and realized my seat bag with the new tube and patches and co2 etc is still sitting on the bench at work. wtf.

Weather said 80% chance of thunderstorms last night, and I've been painting for 2 days, so I'm sore. Now this AM the weather says 40% chance but I'mm too late to bike it. Guess I'll just make a supply run with the car

Warm this morning and dark as usual. I saw lightning flashes in the skies to the North. I rode my C.Itoh, the junker of all junkers and locked it outside. No way am I lugging that gaspipe frame down the stairs when I go home today. That thing is as heavy as my Columbia Tourist V. It does give me a workout though.

Rows of new corn shoots in perfectly straight lines guide my commute. The rain has been good for the fields. A white feral cat tries to hide by crouching amoungst the young plants. Silly critter.

I Left nice and early at around 5:30 am. I love that time of day, because I have the roads all to myself.
