I commute to work by bicycle (errr ... obviously) and my office doesn't require us to dress up, so I tend to just wear a pair of loose fitting jeans and a plain t-shirt (usually black). I like this because I don't have to carry a bag with spare clothes or anything, I just roll up my jeans before I get on my bike, and roll them down when I'm done. If I get a flat, I jump on the subway (this is very rare).

That said : I'm having trouble finding good t-shirts for this. I'd like to find something that is cool/wicks away sweat, has no logos/writing/designs whatsoever, is durable, well-made, fits snugly without being skin-tight, and is reasonably priced (so I can buy a bunch of 'em).

Any suggestions?

Target's C9 shirts are pretty decent, as are Old Navy's Rec Tech polos.

The Target ones can have small logos, though. But sometimes they have some on the clearance rack in the store. There is one in Marble Hill, which is entertainingly a piece of land completely part of the Bronx but

Unfortunately Old Navy seems out of SS tees & polos. Maybe they have them at the real store. There's one on lower Broadway.

I've got a handful of shirts that I got at various discount stores (Ross, Marshall's, Gabriel Brothers). My favorites are a couple of polyester Layer 8 Qwik-Dry shirts I got from Gabe's for $2 each. They look like cotton and are at least that soft, but because they're polyester they don't hold water the way cotton does. Visit some discount stores, and I'll bet you find something.

CheapesTees.com has some in both long and short sleeves.

And while AlertShirt.com is known for their hi-viz stuff, they also have long and short-sleeve wicking tees.

Check the Eddie Bauer fall sale. Last week they had t's for $9.00 that will wick. They have one other style that has zipper and a little side pocket. I like those better than bike jerseys.

If you're still looking, I like the American Apparel plain tees. Feel is great, they are slightly pricey though...buy in the multipacks they do sometimes and you'll be alright.

I second the idea of the Target shirts though. Probably made in the same factory as the Nike and Adidas shirts of the same material too.

I picked up a pair of moisture wicking shirts @ Kmart the other day. Since they were short sleeve and geared for summer, they were being clearanced. I paid $6 or so for each. I think they were "Athletetech" brand or something like that.

i actually happen to work at a ross(dress for less) and they always get dri-fit shirts. these are shirts that vent well, dry fast when they do get sweaty, and are usually plain(not too mention look like normal shirts) they usually run between 10 and 15 dollars.
