Thinking about it, I would pay for the bike in half the time than I previously thought. I estimate that it takes one gallon each way per trip. So at the current fuel price of $2.59, that would be $5.18 saved per day. Even if I budget for an average price of $2.50 a gallon, that still yields a savings of $5 per day @ 5 days a week = 25 weekly savings. So yeah, the bike will have payed for itself within six months.
