Laptop and smallish panniers
I want to buy a set of four panniers for touring. I want to use the front ones on the rear for commuting. I'm thinking probably Ortlieb.
I have to carry a 15" widescreen laptop to work everyday. My current cheap panniers work fine for this, but will this laptop (in a small sleeve) fit in the Sport Packer or Front Roller panniers?
I'm having trouble picturing the size of these things.
I do plan on ordering the Back Rollers, but those would only be for touring or carrying more stuff (shopping?). I'd like to carry the smallest pannier I can for commuting.
Thoughts?

Don't know if this will help or not. I have the Jandd Mini Mountain panniers with these dimensions:
13.5 x 10.5 x 9 inches (expanded)
The laptop I have is a 13" Macbook Pro and I transport in a small case which isn't much more than a sleeve with a shoulder strap and a couple of pockets. With it's case it will barely fit in the panniers.

Ortlieb measures 13 inches from hook to bottom. rolling just once will give you 16 inches of height,
, but you may want to roll them more water resistant .. the strap down lid may give you more height
still width limited to 10''..
have you considered the travel biker , its a rack top briefcase like bag with their waterproof zipper around it.
Snaps on and off with a QR mount. or consider
'Office' line .. some Bags made to haul computers on bikes :

Okay, it looks like my laptop won't fit in the Ortlieb Front Roller or Front-Packer. I assume similar issues with most front-specific panniers.
I was really hoping for Ortlieb or Arkel, because they come in red.

Axiom has some nice panniers that also come in red. The model I have is the Typhoon, but it has a smaller version called Monsoon. I'm not sure if the Monsoon would fit your laptop, but my Typhoons have no problem holding my 15.4" Dell.

For what it's worth, I commute with the Ortlieb Sport Packer Plus panniers and
my 15" MacBook Pro will fit if I put it in "top first". It's tight, but manageable,
since I only take my laptop to work once a week or so. If I had to take my laptop
every day I would look for a slightly bigger set of panniers. Otherwise, I really
like the Ortliebs.

I'm setting my single-speed up for commuting (rear rack), and want a minimalist commuting package that will carry a laptop. Red is necessary. I thought of front panniers because I could also use them for touring on the front of my LHT.

I guess I need an interior dimension of 15x11x2 ... the x2 is easy.
I'll keep looking.

I need to transport my laptop nearly every day. I tried panniers, but for the laptop I ended-up with an inexpensive SIMS messenger bag I found on close-out at either Dick's or Sports Authority. This allowed me to keep the Topeak MTB trunk with retractable side panniers for the rest of the cargo duties (tools, spare tube, lock, lights, lunch, work clothes, etc.). I like the load placement better with this set-up plus the laptop doesn't seem to get jostled as much.

My single-speed is my "light" bike. I just added a rear rack, and was hoping for a smallish red pannier to carry the laptop. Red is necessary to match the cranks, chain, bottle cage, and bar tape.

I don't like backpacks or messenger bags.
I may have to just use the panniers I have for now, unless I can find a custom made thing.
