South Florida this time of the year

It's nice to ride to/from work. Temperature in the mid 60s early in the morning and not bad at all in the afternoon. Clear, blue skies. No rain. I'm loving it

Commuted yesterday, which was great. Had to take a new route because part of my original route was blocked off due to street flooding. It was a nice route with little traffic, but too many hills. In the morning it started off as rain, turned into sleet then freezing rain, and as I pulled onto campus, it was snowing. I took my original route home and the ride was great. It was much nicer and the sun was out. The only issue was having to take the detour and then waiting in stopped traffic for about 10 mins because there was an accident on a bridge.

This morning there was no detour, which was very nice. It was 21F and dawn/sunny with winds from the NNE @ 4mph.

Nice ride in today after a good sunset glow-lit ride home last night. Upper 30s by the time I left to come in today. Little bit of a headwind but tame compared to some of late.

Got to work and went to fire u BF as is part of my morning routine. Sadly, it's fallen victim to the firewall, so BF access at work will have to be through phone from now on. Really bummed.

Great commute today, took a longer, safer route which includes 17 miles of trail. Really enjoyed the scenery.

Yesterdays ride home was wonderful, sunny and warm. Great ride until I came up on 2 cyclists riding side by side looking down at their feet on the MUP.

This morning was wet but still feeling pretty rested so it went quick. Halfway up the hill, the rain turned to snow so I'm calling it a snowy commute even though it was only a few kilometers of snow. :)

Very nice ride on my new route from the new house today. The new route is only 1.5 miles longer (13.5 total now) and has much less traffic. It was great having new surroundings to check out on the way.

23F this morning. Nice ride in.

Horrible ride home last night... Apparently when you bump your VO fenders, while wearing 700X40 studded tires, they will squeal FOREVER, even after 3 months of trying to get them dialed in...

caloso 03-08-11 12:28 PM

Overcast and warm. Above 50F. I was kind of sweaty getting to the office this morning even without a sweater.

eboslar 03-08-11 08:45 PM

First commute in over a year. 15 miles round trip. The morning was brisk and a little slick on the roads. Afternoon was beautiful Mid 50's. Forgot shorts so i had to ride in my pants home which made the ride a little hot.

derekthelion 03-08-11 09:06 PM

First time doing the ride to school, and NOT taking the train home.. rode it both ways, at night. Had an incredible time. Tried out my new Planet Bike 2 Watt light and was impressed, especially on the one road with NO LIGHTS at all through some cut away woods. I could have done with out the jerks who drove by screaming at me ...

ace587 03-08-11 10:21 PM

typical South Florida weather ;)

jdgesus 03-08-11 10:49 PM

Well, sixty fiver, you can keep that snow. We are not out of the proverbial snow woods yet, but we are getting there. Easy ride in today, around 32 F ( 0 C). Lots of rain predicted going home and into tomorrow night, and I brought all my lights.

dcb23 03-09-11 07:30 AM

Two straight days of nice commutes. I'm shedding a layer a day it seems. Lots of bikes out on the lanes last evening coming home. Headed out ater than usual today which meant more joggers more cars and buses, but still a good ride in with minimal wind disturbance.

We'll see about that ride home in the rain today.

Fizzaly 03-09-11 07:40 AM

31f foggy, supposed to be in the mid 50's today so I'm looking forward to that.:)

gecho 03-09-11 08:11 AM

I put the clipless pedals back on yesterday afternoon. -20C this morning, which was a bit cooler than I anticipated, so I used some chem warmers in my boots. It was getting light out by the time I got to school today, so I should start seeing the sunrise during next week's rides.

The afternoon sun has been getting intense on the rides home. My dark coloured wool sweater has been getting very warm, so I might have to stop using it in the afternoons. The high and low for Friday's ride should be right around freezing.

Jimbob Jones 03-09-11 08:12 AM

I met another cyclist and we paced/drafted each other for about 4 miles, it was a refreshing change!

truman 03-09-11 09:05 AM

Too chilly at each end and too warm in the middle. It's definitely shoulder season - hard to dress. Looking for a 20+ tailwind going home, though.

EKW in DC 03-09-11 09:24 AM

Last dry commute for a while this morning in all likelihood. Good chance of rain this afternoon/evening and all but guaranteed for tomorrow AM & PM.

daijoubu2k8 03-09-11 10:01 AM

A little damp and cool this morning, one close call right at the bottom of the steep 20% climb on my route. The adrenaline was a nice boost up the hill.

MileHighMark 03-09-11 10:19 AM

A dry 26f this morning with no wind. I took my new route which adds a couple of miles, and includes 5.5 miles of dirt trails. Said route avoids some heavy traffic, and changes the profile to 40% dirt (used to be 100% pavement). Makes for a much more interesting ride.

HardyWeinberg 03-09-11 10:37 AM

45F, raining
