Find a hair stylist to do a killer cut, as in taking into consideration your hair texture, height, bone structure, lifestyle, etc. It is trial and error process, but hair grows back. The winner will end up self-maintaining - wash, towel, shake-off and wear. Upon finding that cut, tip well. Very well.
Only on BF a bunch of grown males can discuss (in no particular order of importance) leg shaving vs. waxing/lazering, tights and booties, color-coordinating one's Lycra to whatever needs to be color-coordinated, looking up nail polish for scratch touch-up, and laundry. Now hairstyles.

1. Remove helmet.
2. Place baseball cap on head.
Helmet hair?
Not a problem!

I suggest getting a helmet with good ventilation, and taking it off immediately after arriving at your destination. Then a little water and hair product should do the trick. Good haircut does make a difference.

I totally disagree. I have a short to medium length haircut and I'm amazed how well it combs out with gel. In winter the balaclava keeps it pretty well in place, but even in the summer the "Klingon"-type ridges comb out and I don't have to make explanation for my appearance.

I would advise not to buzz your hair if you have a full set of it. You don't want to be bald and 60 years old and wonder what kind of ladies you could have macked if you had long mane of chick magnet hair. Women really notices a dood with a good haircut. Once you buzz off your hair, you lose your mojo. It's the Fabio effect.

It's not a fair comparison, Fabio is gross hair or no hair. Ask your wife about this hair: https://www.imdb.com/media/rm1753646336/nm0000136

Not a big problem if you keep your hair short.

I have longish hair for a guy, and helmet hair is a constant for me, but I don't care. I mean, really: you're on a bike wearing a stupid-looking helmet to begin with. In my case, I also have panniers and filthy yellow rain gear. Sometimes I show up at pubs or restaurants in full commuter regalia and dripping wet besides. I'm pretty sure no one notices the helmet hair, and in fact, no one actually cares what I look like. My employer is primarily concerned with my performance. My friends at social events can look beyond the bad hair, etc., and the business I frequent is very happy just to have some of my money. Yes, I look a bit stupid, but not stupid enough to be ostracized, and at 49, I'm too old to give a sh*t about the occasional raised eyebrow on the part of a random stranger.

I get a very low-maintenance haircut that I can just towel, shake and finger-comb.
If I'm just stopping mid-ride, I use my skullcap to towel off sweat and then fingercomb.
If I'm stopping at work and there's no shower, I dunk my head in the restroom sink and shampoo; then towel it. After toweling it, I sometimes use Sham-Wows (or similar) to get hair from wet to almost dry.
I always wear some sort of skull cap under the helmet. It keeps the helmet cleaner, controls sweat, provides warmth in winter and shade in summer.
