Two Linus Office Bags for the iPad, change of clothes and a lunch.

Plus two grocery panniers for larger loads - dont even remember the brand. They have a zipper across the top and can be folded flat when not full of junk.

the rest of my bags:
1 axiom waterproof laptop pannier,
2 el cheapo - Garnieau panniers with garbage bag inserts
1 MEC trunk bag
1 MEC shoulder bag
1 Deuter Race Exp Air (my fave)
1 Seal Line Urban Messenger bag (when it really pours)

Those MEC bags are awesome... figure those PF43 bags have been in nearly constant use for over 6 years and at least 60,000 km and just today I noticed that I should replace one of the clip sets as they are showing a little wear and if I take them into MEC it will probably get done for free because of their lifetime guarantee.

I use the following:
A pair of water resistant panniers with rain covers
A Blackburn seat bag for tools etcs
A backpack that I rarely use on the bike
A small courier bag (swiped from a conference) for carrying small things
A softsided briefcase with shoulder strap
I mostly use the panniers, however. I am considering buying a grocery cart for wheeling back and forth to the store.

Hey, can you use the Ortleib panniers with the pod attached? I was looking at something similar but I couldn't tell, and didn't have my bike handy to test fit things. It looked to me like I would have to rig up something to raise the pod up, to give room for the Ortleib hooks. Does that make any sense?

In order of acquisition:
- Racktime City bag for books etc
- Cannondale Grocery pannier (used for clothes in warmer / drier months)
- Axiom trunk bag (for weekend rides)
- Bontrager Urban Commuter set (have been using 1 for clothes / extra winter gear)
I'm not really a fan of the Bontrager set. The quick release mechanism is nice, but most of the pockets are so tight its difficult to use them for storage. The lids always flop over and can't stay open on their own which can be frustrating while loading / unloading.

i have a hybrid backpack which sits on top of the rear rack and allows me to take my backpack. on rainy days i just put my pack in a garbage bag and then put it on the hybrid backpack.
here are vids of me using it to carry my backpack and bottles of beers and wine

Bringing the thread back to offer just a couple thoughts on my Rivendell Shopsack. I've been using this the past couple weeks on my commute in lieu of panniers or strapping my messenger bag into my front basket. I much prefer the Shopsack mostly for it's simplicity. In the AM, I just toss what I need in the bag, with the huge opening, arranging stuff is easy, then zip it closed and roll. When I get to work, I unclip the bag from the basket and carry it into the building, no fussing with attachment systems, pockets or straps. Handles are generous and the materials and workmanship are excellent. Very happy with the pure functionality of this piece!
