Bikes: Waltly Custom Ti // Seaboard CX01 // Dahon Boardwalk

Some crappy fenders (quite unhappy with them, but they were cheap so if I can't adjust them better at least I'm not out much money) and a bottle of WD40.

Very nice!!!! $1300 - yeah, it's crazy this year. That's what I looked at also for my yearly trip to Germany, but decide to forget about it and go to CA instead.

The last item I received was a set of wheels from Joe Young. Mavic A719 36H with Phil Wood touring hubs. I put a set of Schwalbe Marthon Plus tires on, which were really really really easy to get on the Mavic rims. I was pleasantly surprised since they were such a pain to get on the stock Alex DA16 rims that came with my cross check.

I got a set of teeny 424 Channel Lock pliers and a Lutz 2-in-1 screwdriver to replace the spoke wrench and a generic muli-tool in my toolkit. About a quarter of the weight of the multi-tool, and I carry an Opinel pocket knife, anyway.

New drivetrain parts for my fixed commuter / do-everything bike (Surly Cross-Check w/ 37c WTB All Terrain tires and SKS fenders). Surly 39 and 42t stainless chainrings, Sugino messenger cranks in 170mm black, and Surly Dingle 17/20t fixed cog. Will give 68 or 53 gear inches for road and trails.

Nice. I am considering getting the Workit. Does the attachment mechanism allow it to angle like that (like Ortliebs), or is the rack tilted that far forward?

Thanks for directiong me to Bikeisland today. I ended up buying a scratched up new Windsor Clockwork there.

That trailer looks awesome. Its not as expensive as I had imagined it would be. It makes me want to get one and do some serious touring, but I don't know when I will have time to do something like that in the next year.

UPDATE 6/7/2011. MY REVIEW OF THE 235. Well I've wasted more $$ than what this costs. Save yours, as far as this light is concerned. The runtime on this thing was barely one hour. Not acceptable to me for commuting. It's a bright light that did the trick. But who wants to put new batteries in every day. Not me. Note. I was using Ray-O-Vac Hybrid rechargeable batteries. Alkalines would probably last longer but who wants to spend $100 /year on batteries. So I gave this light to the wife.

The rack is pretty close to level, the attachment points are set at an angle and are quite easy to use.

The Specialized tires that came with my bike finally started picking up bad stuff in the road and eating tubes like a buffet. Had 2 flats this morning and had to walk my bike a couple miles to the bike shop to get a new tube at least. I ended up getting Continental Gatorskin tires and new tubes for a decent deal.

Before the Gatorskins, my latest purchase was a set of Shimano PD-M540 SPD Pedals in silver. Gonna get shoes for the pedals in a month or so.
