I've been riding in shorts for a couple months now. Once it's over 35 or 40 regularly in the AM, it's officially shorts season for mw.

I've recently started sweating a lot during the morning commute, not just the afternoon/evening. That's my season change marker of later, and I don't like it.

GO AWAY!!!!

I was just happy to ride last night without a jacket or gloves (and I had them with me in a pannier just in case).

Hmm.... I switch to shorts (~50 F) before losing the jacket (~60 F). Am I alone in this?

Got some rain and snow last week, a couple of warmish days, followed by a mix of rain and snow this week. I've maybe worn shorts in the morning once so far this year. Have worn them home a few times.

Looks like maybe we've turned a corner though. Still, I'm guessing it'll be a couple of weeks before shorts become the default choice for both morning and evening commutes.

Agreed! Once it hits 35-40 I am in shorts. I hate it at first when it is above 50 but I warm up to it. I just prefer colder weather.

Really?? So funny, I am still not quite sure if I should put away my balaclava for the season. Yesterday, I ran into somebody who still had their studded tires on. :-)) It's crazy this year with this cold spring.

Welcome to Spring! I've been in shorts for a month, but this morning I had to bust out the long sleeve shirt and windbreaker - we had a surprise cold snap and it was 45 this morning.

It's still winter here, which mostly just means cold rain. I'm hoping the trailing edge of the current storm is past before I start riding home.

I'm still doing tights in the morning, but the afternoon rides are definitely shirt and shorts weather. Perfect in fact.

I transitioned from pants to knickers last week, even if my shins froze one night. This weekend might be the time to switch to shorts. I'll keep carrying a jacket because the weather looks like rain with a chance of more rain but hopefully I'll mostly get to wear a polypro long sleeve shirt under a jersey or tshirt. The sandals switch will need go wait for warmer, sunnier days but I hope soon.

Pedicabber in South Texas here.

First time I wore shorts for the season both a woman and a gay man commented on my legs. The guy even went so far as to feel my calf on the downstroke. Typing that probably felt worse than reading it. . .

I am in the DC area too. I have this elaborate setup for clothing based on temps that varies every 10 degrees or so. Once it is over 60F in the morning, then I no longer need a light jacket or gloves and consider the seasons to have changed. Unfortunately it brings out hordes to the MUPS in the afternoon and at least until mid May the pollen is so thick that I have to switch to my glasses. As much as I like warm weather, it is nice to have the trail to myself virtually in the winter.

I think the balaclava season is over and has been for a while. This is strictly my personal opinion of course. Only time I wear a balaclava is when it is 10 or below with strong winds. I can comfortably ride without one when it is 10 degrees out but if the wind is strong out of the north... I throw it on quick!

I road to work all winter in shorts, but I did just switch from a light weight jersey to the lightest weight jersey I have.

I had my first ride in shorts here about 3 weeks ago. Then it snowed. I had one shorts ride this week, but mostly not. It's 54*F here now, which is borderline for me given the headwinds. The cold doesn't bother me by making me feel cold, but it causes my knees to start to act up so I wear pants up to temps that I normally wouldn't.

Going to get 2 feet of snow in the mountains in Northern Utah tonight and 1-3 inches on the valley floor.
