Nearly got hit by a car today.

I was on my trip to work today, everything was going well until one junction. Theres two lanes, i was on the right lane looking to turn right and waiting for the light to turn green. When the lights was green, i went to the middle waiting for the cars on the other side coming up to stop. So finally the car stops, i make my turn and out of no where, this f****** moron comes out, when i'm about to turn. That moron was a very young driver racing in his s**** corsa. If i hadn't brake, the car could have seriously knocked me right off.

Anyway, he then horns and pull over further ahead. I pulled over too, and explained to him wtf was he doing. But he refuses to accept his mistake, his attitude was shocking. His argument, the lights were on yellow. I think he must be blind not to see a cyclist turning in. And he was racing at the start as well. He finally at the end accepted responsibility. It amazes me how people are here. In other towns we have respectable drivers and cyclists. But some places its filled with utter idiots.

I am a civil engineer and design a lot of things that get built and used by people of all types.

Sometimes I do something that doesn't seem to make sense, "there are better ways to do that," etc. There are, but I am not designing for an independent thinker who is capable of pointing such things out. I'm designing for the 4th percentile moron. Most things that are not moron-proof will fail eventually because of it.

Bicycling is like that.

Glad you're safe.
