I have had good luck with Michilin City 32C tires. Oddly, I had equally good luck with Kenda Kwest 32Cs.... 4500 miles on the rear and only about 3 flats. So far I have 1200 on the Michilins with one flat. The Michilins appear to be wearing at about the same rate as the Kendas.

I have Continental Contact 700x32's on my commuter, a drop-bar Cannondale CAAD2 touring bike. About 500 miles on them so far, and not a single flat (knock on wood...). Almost no wear either. Sometimes I wish I had gone with 28's for more speed, but the 32's are very stable and I often fly over railroad tracks or potholes with them without thinking twice. They are also good on gravel. Not something I would want to ride a century on, but fine for my short distance (<10 miles one way) commute/errand rides. Plus, they are only $35/ea at REI. I couldn't justify spending $120 on new tires for my commuter when I only paid $125 for the entire bike.

I have these tires on all of my bikes and LOVE them
Different sizes of course!
I have over 6,000 miles on the set of 28's with on problems what so ever.
IMO; It's the best overall tire for city riding.
Some tires wear a bit better, some are lighter, some may feel better,
but when you combine all of these things, it's the ribmo's for me.

FYI,the newest issue of _Bicycle Times_ has a writeup of commuter tires. Haven't gotten the chance to rear it yet,but in the past they've done a good job at evaluating products.

I have Vittoria Rando Hypers on my fun bike and have never flatted. I think I will put them on the commuter when I can afford it. The commuter came with Maxxis tires (forget the model) with a pattern similar to the regular Vittoria Rando and I can tell any difference. Not sure how heavy they are, though. So far no flats.
