Tall rear racks?

Can anyone suggest a good rear rack that has at least 14 inches of vertical space between the mounting hole and the top platform? Preferably one that can fit fat tires, too?

I've got a Cross Check that's used mostly for commuting. It's running 32c street tires, with Raceblade XL fenders providing minimal protection. The Raceblades sit pretty high off the tires. I would like a rack tall enough to fit over the Raceblades so that I could easily switch to XC or snow knobby mode just by removing the fenders (easy with the Raceblade rubber bands) and switching the wheels/tires. I don't want to mess with fender or rack mounting bolts. I've got some old Blackburn racks that have 13" - 13.5" clearance, but that's not enough to ride above the Raceblades; I need more like 14", measured from center of the mounting hole to underside of the rack platform. Other companies like Axiom boast about having "ample space" but don't quote actual specs.

Thanks,

Peter

Maybe the Racktime Addit? 383.4mm from mounting holes to top of the platform. 2cm under the platform there should be a room of 56.6mm width.

Have a look: https://www.racktime.com/en/rear-carriers/addit

I have a Racktime TourIt and it measures over 14.5" from the center of the mounting hole to the bottom of the platform. At the rear of the rack, though, there is a cross-member that holds a rear light. Here's a technical drawing that might help you, with tire and fender clearance dimensions:

It's a nice rack - strong, easy to install, and you can get an optional spring clamp for the top of it, for added flexibility.

I have an axiom streamliner. I just measured it's 14" from the center of the mounting hole to the bottom of the rack. I run 700x38s with full fenders and have 1/2-3/4" of clearance between the fender and the rack, of course my mounting holes may be differently located than yours.

Just get a rack with a "fender top"/solid platform and ditch the rear fender.

I recently got this Tortec Expedition from the U.K. shipped to the U.S. very inexpensively. It's got the best clearance I've seen in any rack, as you can see in the pic below. It's also a sturdy rack with 10mm railings (8 mm is the norm in most inexpensive aluminum racks.) You can drill holes should you decide you want the rack a little lower.

Thanks, everyone!

The Tortec and Racktime look pretty nice, but I think the Streamliner DLX is probably the winner considering it's about 200g lighter than the others.
