Cycling Jeans
Anyone else seen this? Levi's is coming out with cycling jeans:

Too bad they're skinny jeans, but some of the technology they are putting in seems like a nice step forward. Here's hoping they end up taking some of this technology & putting it into their dockers line of pants. I'd wear them to work every day.

I ride to the grocery store and do other errands on my bike while wearing jeans. Levis are the least comfortable, though. They have that heavy seam down the center that makes riding in them uncomfortable (IMO). Maybe these will be different if they're "performance stretch fabric", which just makes me think of super-tight punk rocker stretch jeans that look uncomfortable to begin with.
I can't wear "skinny" anything, so I guess it doesn't much matter.

These sound kinda cool and even though I won't be buying them I signed up to get notified when they come out just because I am curious. They do seem to have alot of cool features. I never really wear jeans anymore because I am cheap and most of the cheap jeans are either funky dyed and/or ripped up or skinny jeans and buying used is a real chore. I just wear khakis cargo pants and even casual dress pants. I have a couple pairs of jean shorts and the one pair is awful for riding in. Its some of the thickest denim I have ever seen. LOL

Cycling jeans sound like an interesting concept; but ...
a) there ain't no way I'm laying out that kind of smack for a pair of jeans.
b) I guarantee that while "skinny jeans" may fit me in the waist; they will be too tight in the thigh, and probably in the calf too.
No, I only wear jeans when riding in cold weather, and for that I have found loose fit jeans to work well.

Columbia Commuter pants.
Similar pricing and (potentially) twice the comfort. Too bad Columbia doesn't seem to manufacture pants that would comfortably accommodate long-legged fellows like me. Are un-hemmed pants or supplying a 36" inseam too much to ask for?

I wonder if those Levis are made well enough no to leave ring around the booty. A few weeks ago I saw a cyclist wearing bike shorts underneath a pair of cycling tights that looked like acid washed jeans...they were sagging below is butt. Oh such style.

Bikes: Novear Buzz V. I also have a 'B' cycle city borrow a bike, only I own it. It's 3 speed, slow, heavy and rugged.
I couldn't pay that much for jeans. I get WalMart jeans for 10 bucks and tie a bandanna around my right ankle to keep the pant leg out of the chainring. That's when I go to work or if it's cool on the weekends. I 've never had a problem wearing jeans.
Where are Levi's made now? I heard they packed up all the manufacturing and moved to China. My cheap WalMart jeans are made in Mexico so at least it helps our southern neighbors.

Dockers is a brand name owned by Levis. That's the reason I used the specific name. I'd like to see Levi transfer their R&D over from the jeans over to their line of casual work pants.

Yeah, I'm not so sure about spending so much money on jeans meant for cycling. I usually wear denim when I ride because of commuting and running errands. I had been wearing a pair of denim capris because it's the summer, etc. and I was coming home from class when after arriving home my sister said that she could see wear my saddle contacts my butt. I take them off and there were marks left from the rivets on my Brooks. So went and bought some more capris...

I'm a Lucky Brand guy, personally. (I have no clue where they're made.) I wore Levi's up until just this year and got a few pairs of some "designer" stuff and some Luckys. Far more comfortable, definitely; but I wouldn't go riding around in my CoH's. But I find that the seam on the Luckys is less noticeable when riding, and stuff in the pockets doesn't dig in like with Levi's. The denim is a lighter hand, but doesn't seem like it's any less sturdy. On the plus side, there's *always* a sale on their website and you can pick a pair up for $45, which isn't that bad considering what some other companies charge.

I would really love to have jeans that looked like jeans but were stretchy, both for cycling and for...well, everything else, lol. Though I have the same problem as other posters - I don't fit into "skinny" jeans because I actually have thighs (and biking doesn't make them smaller, lol).

I ride in jeans in the winter all the time. I never understand why people think it so uncomfortable. You might have to break them in if they are new, but they wouldn't be comfortable if you weren't riding bike if they are new. In the summer I ride in Chinos because it is hot and they are lighter. I don't wear a kit because I am commuting and am not in a race. I never can understand people in full kits doing what I would classify as "putting around." In my mind it is like going to the playground to play touch football with helmet, shoulder pads, mouth piece, custom jersey. In a nut shell uncalled for. I try to dress for the occasion.

It's not like your only choices are lycra or jeans when you're riding a bike, though...
