Nice and fast. Must be summer, 50F felt a little nippy.

First commute on the brand new Jamis Aurora... it's such a HUUUUUUUGE difference from my Huffy mtb. I'm in love with this bike.

Nice ride this morning. About 60F. Light headwind but not bad. Someone came out on the MUP behind me but I was going faster than the person wanted to go I guess. I caught up to a guy on a hybrid and rode with him at a relaxed pace. Like 14-16MPH. We passed a couple of other riders including some dude in work clothes and wearing what looked like a pith helmet.

Hi 60's and raining this morning. The bike racks were really empty at work. The ride home will be around 80 and dry.

Nice ride home. Had a chance to talk to another commuter, for about 30 seconds until the light changed.

Fantastic! Seriously, this was the best afternoon trip I have had in the time that i have been commuting (since end of May). After pushing it hard a bit last week, I took the whole weekend off from biking, but spent time on refining my calorie/diet stuff, and relaxing.
For the first time, the long hills that I have on the way home were not an issue. In fact, this was the first time that they did not require me to slow down or coast when I reached each plateau!
All in all, a great ride!

Do you ever wish you had something less upright and more "roady"? I'm new to commuting and have hills to face on my ride in. I'm thinking I need enough speed to make the uphill. I've just bought a Cannondale Adventure 400. Very comfortable, but I haven't had the nerve to tackle the commute until I've put in more hours and more hills. I'm afraid I've bought too slow a bike.
Just curious.

You guys aren't helping my frustration; it's been windy around here recently, and my commuter has a very upright riding position, giving me the full force of whatever headwind I happen to be facing. My average speed last October was around 30-33 km/h, and now I'm around 22-25 km/h, and feeling like a squished toad.
(Probably doesn't help that I've added a rack, trunk, panniers, heavier tires, and Slime liners since then, too...)
Today's commute was great; warm-ish morning, no traffic, and I found a much more pleasant route to work. That, and of all things, I had a *tailwind* today! I haven't had one of those in a long time...

I'm wondering how you like your commuter. Do you ever wish you had a more "roady" bike instead of the "upright riding position"? I just bought a Cannondale Adventure 400 and I'm worried about speed (at least enough to take the hills on my way into work.)

Off work today, trying to get used to being awake during the day and getting acclimated to the heat since I'm switching from overnights to an early day shift. It's really pleasant riding first thing in the morning when it's still cool, the rest of the day was admittedly rough with the sun and heat. I only did about 13 miles, but I got all my errands done so I'll consider that a win.

We never have tailwinds here. Either I have a headwind or my legs are having a great day.
nice commute in this morning - a little humid though. Woke up late so had more traffic than usual. Made a road trip to the Charlotte office this afternoon so I didn't get to ride home in the rain - BOOOO!
Taking the train back to Raleigh tomorrow and will ride home when I get to the office and take the rest of the day off - working all night - BOOOO!

The ride home was very interesting. There were so many more people on the path than normal!
A group of boys on BMXs riding three abreast tried to play chicken with me. I gave them the Mom Look (you know, the one that precedes the lecture and punishment) and held my line. They scooted over.
Mr. Nice Pedestrian, an older guy who walks eastbound on the path when I ride home westbound, said hi to me. We'd been waving and smiling for the last few days.
There were more dog walkers than normal, which was fine with me because their dogs were well-behaved...and really cute.
And may I just say, hooray for sexy roadies in spandex!

Injuries suck, I'm into my 4th non bicycle commuting day & I'm suffering withdrawals. I still have a week to go before I get back on the bike...
On a brighter note, I got my 15 minutes of fame. My multi-modal commuting guide for a local park n ride was mentioned in a city wide email. score for bicycle commuting +1

My ride to work was good. I noticed that the mornings are staying darker longer! The security guard at the new Colts stadium still has the same grumpy look on his face. ( He should try riding to work, it makes the day much better!!)

Today was a bit cool, but an otherwise beautiful morning. Took my old route to work, which I haven't taken on the new bike. It was considerably easier. Passed another commuter.
This one was interesting because it was the first commuter NOT on the sidewalk that wasn't in full lycra. It seems that people either are dressed in normal clothes and on a "comfort hybrid" sort of bike, and on the sidewalk, or they are on the road with full lycra.
It was the opposite today, I saw a dude with a carbon specialized and full lycra cruisin down the sidewalk. And a person in regular garb on the road.
Strange enough to see cyclo-commuters, so I won't complain.

Sunny, windless, low 60sF. Very nice. I saw a cyclist on a cross street heading toward the road I was on. Then I think I saw him behind me on the MUP, but it was weird. I stopped to snap a picture (below) and never saw him. He must've stopped or turned around or something. Or it was a ghost rider.
Edit: Also saw a black & white kitteh sitting in the middle of the road I live on. Didn't stop to pet it. (Very residential - Cat not in danger.)

Nonstop flight to work. I was going fast with very little effort, and didn't take my usual rest stop. The weather was perfect, too.

Great ride today. Temps in the low 60s, dry, clear sky. It would have been nice to have more mirrors so I could've seen the sunrise when the sun started coming up (I ride southeast into work ...)

I SO much wanted to sleep in today, make some coffee, be lazy and drive to work. However, the weather forecast was nice and I really didn't have a good excuse not to ride. So I got up, ate breakfast, made lunch and hit the road. As usual when I'm feeling lazy, I was glad that I rode my bike after the first few minutes. The bonus today was that I had pretty stiff tailwind all the way to work. Even though my legs were tired from lots of miles over the past week, it was an easy ride and I even got lucky with the traffic lights. I made the right choice.

Here we go...
Long time lurker at this forum, and I've been commuting since the beginning of the year. I typically get in 3 or 4 days a week commuting and a couple of mt. bike rides in between. Since relocating from California to North Carolina, I'm really enjoying my commute through the country. It's 18 miles round trip and takes me by horses, through Gibsonville and Elon University, and by a golf course near the office. Minimal traffic and great scenery.
Todays commute was perfect. Temps of about 63 and no wind. By the way, I love reading the daily commute log. Great stuff.

great ride in this morning. the AM has been cool, with a bit of humidity, but about 1/2 way through my commute, I leave the woods and get to the downtown, where it warms up. the last hill on my ride kicked me a bit hard this morning, but overall, it was very enjoyable.
