How was the commute today?
kept my eye on my mirror for a bit and they weren't pedaling at all. I turned off after they had been following me for a few miles and looked back as they passed by and no pedaling motion? It was pretty dark so I couldn't make much out perhaps someone got an electric or really quite gas assist. Either that or the best coasting bike ever!

Bah, tail light is gone (Cateye LD1000). Must have fallen off Thursday night; the L bracket it was screwed to fractured from all the vibration on the gravel roads I ride. I'll look out for it on the way home. If it's not along the road, time to buy a 2nd SuperFlash and build a rack for them.
It was a nice ride this morning, about 60*F (perfect). First day of school craziness was going on, plus bridge construction had traffic only going one way (not my way) and there was enough traffic that I didn't want to try to sneak across the bridge. So I had to go on the 2.5 mile detour, then go to the grocery store and back, going by an intersection the cops were controlling due to all the extra traffic from the school and detour traffic coming together on one intersection.
Anyway, no problems, just extra miles, and that's a good thing on a morning like this.

Will probably be a very long day today so I brought my lights and blinkies. Sigh.
Other than that, a very pleasant ride in to work.

Got about 5 miles into my 15 mile commute to lower downtown Denver and noticed a clanking sound when I would hit bumps on the trail. Looked back and noticed that I had either lost weight bearing bolt or it had sheared off. Either way, with >25lbs of load on, I had to turn back & drive in.
GRRR!!!

Cold (low 40s) and foggy. Had to wipe my glasses around the halfway point. School starts tomorrow, ams will then include riding w/ 7yr old on his new 20" rig to his school.
The beginning of my 10th full week of commuting, today was a beautiful way to start the new week:
1) I made it to the gym in 15 minutes rather than the "usual" 17+ minutes.
2) I swam 30 laps in the pool, up from 20 last week.
3) Weighed one pound less than I did last week. (I am losing about 1.25 lbs/week. 12 overall)
4) My average speed was up nearly 1 full MPH.
Life is good.
Ride safe.

Was dreading the return of the general studentry to campus and the surrounding area and the beginning of schools in the area as I rode in this AM. I left a bit later than normal so I missed much of the traffic but still noticed a significant increase in both the quantity and temperament of the cars passing me.
Was my first commute on my Jamis Aurora which made the ride much more pleasant than my Trek 7300FX but will still require a bit of getting used to. Beautiful day, enjoyable ride, so far, so good!

Today marks the second time I ran a red in a cop's presence. Maybe I'm just lucky or the cops don't care...
Unbelievably good weather! Warm temps, low humidity.
90 degrees today, but not so bad because I made the correct decision and took the Lakefront path home. The cooling breeze of traveling at a steady 20-22 mph more than made up for having to watch for the idiots.
I also switched from a hybrid to the Aurora, and now I could never go back
mornings
Can't say enough about the early mornings with no cars while busting down the back roads to work. Yeah, I've almost hit deer, coyote, and turkeys, but the morning is usually so still. Some times I can feel the temperature differences based on the terrain. Warmer in the swampy lowlands, and cooler on the hills. Every day I swear I'm going to stop and take a picture. But the pedals keep going updownupdownupdownupdown.

It felt so good today to be back on my regular commute. After a stressful day at work it also felt good to just wind down and relax on the ride home. So happy im back on the saddle!!!

Very nice. Temp was reasonable. Humidity was as well. I was on vacation last week and hardly got to ride at all. I was having withdrawals.

Very nice ride this morning. You know those days after you have a recovery day and you can tell how much stronger you are already? One of those!
I'm currently riding 10 miles each way. Starting tomorrow, I'm going for 10 in the morning and 16 in the afternoon. No longer until it cools down a little. 96 is much better than 106, but still damned hot.

Huh...I ran a stop sign just as a cop was turning down the same street this morning. I didn't notice until it was too late. But he didn't say a word. I'm glad, although I suppose I could be irritated that he apparently doesn't think of bikes as the same kind of traffic as cars. ;-) I'm not really worried about it though.
Today it was only 92 and the humidity was fairly low. So why did it feel like 110 all day? If summer doesn't end soon I may actually go crazy.

Nice ride home yesterday, nice ride in to work today. Got stuck at a red light at ~5:50AM, next to a motorcycle. We waited about 60 seconds and when the light didn't change, looked at each other, shrugged and both ran it.

Today was a great day for riding. The humidity was high and the temperature was in the high 70's. I was sweating big time going to and from the gym, work, and commissary. My wife's grocery list almost exceeded my grocery carrying capacity, but I made due with my two Detours toocan bags. I logged more than 1.5 hours in the saddle today.
Nice and quiet. Dark as usual. A wind picked up overnight and I had a very light drizzle at some spots of my commute. Even had time to stop at the doughnut shop and get a croissant.

Good ride except for an idiot on a bike. I passed him coming down Clarendon in Arlington, VA. 615 a.m. and dark. Crappy front light, no rear light. At least he had a helmet on, he almost needed it. I come to a stop at the Ft. Meyer intersection. I always wait at this red light as it is a somewhat complicated crossing. I'm stopped for about 10 seconds and here comes idiot going hell-bent for election not even slowing down. A crossing car slams on its brakes and forces him into oncoming left hand turn traffic. He causes three cars to stop. Then crosses back over the median and causes the original car to stop for him again. He turns left onto Lynn st. against a red and rides down a side walk. By this time I get a green and also turn left down Lynn. I see him leave his bike in a car spot and walk into the Starbucks. It took every ounce of strength not to kick his bike over as I rode past. He personally ensured that 5 more drivers hate bike riders if they didn't already. If I was still 21 I would have kicked his bike over and walked into the Starbucks and punched him in the face. I hope he reads this so he knows what a dick wad he is.

Great ride to work this morning, with low humidity and temps in the mid-60s. The whole week looks good in NC until we get to Friday, when Hurricane/Tropical Storm Hanna is supposed to hit. That will throw a damper into your cycling.
Last week was my lowest cycling week of the year -- only 14 miles when I've been averaging about 150 miles/week since Jan. 1. First I had to take my truck into the shop for its annual service. Then I had to go out of town for 3 days, while TS Fay was dumping 4-10" of rain across the state. After I returned on Friday, went to the coast for the weekend with my wife on a kayaking trip we had planned for a while. Despite that glitch in my schedule, I still managed to top 600 miles for August even though I only rode one day in the last week of the month. Amazing how you can pile up the miles commuting, as I would have easily topped 700 for the month if my schedule wasn't so screwed up the last week.

It was cool again today...Definitely long-sleeve shirt weather.
Nice ride though I only saw two other cyclists this morning.

Any day I can get through two problematic intersections where I have to make left turns is a great day. I survived! Another day defying death or grevious injury. I'll tell ya... I worry about these two turns every morning and they ruin what should be a beautiful ride in a beautiful part of Southern Maryland. I guess it is not the intersections that ruin the ride for me... it is my fear of distracted drivers.

Windy and much cooler than it's been...funny how the subtle changes when the seasons change are so much more apparent when you ride a bike to work, and how much more attention you pay to that kind of stuff. Before I never saw the first signs of fall until maybe the end of September. This is awesome.

Made it in 47 minutes today. New personal record. :-)
Beat my previous best of 49 minutes, and my average of 53 minutes.
The whole trip really seemed to go by quick today.
