Nice Day out. The weather has been a little cooler in San Diego. I only have a 4 mile ride to work but I take the busiest road that is a business route of the i15. No problems with other drivers. I am sure some of them are used to seeing me by now. Esp since I have been riding it for over the last year.

I didn't want to ride home tonight. 8:45pm was tired from teaching karate all day but I knew once I got on the bike I would be ok. Got the lights on the bike threw on my reflective vest and set out. Night was cool glad I have started bring in a pull over shirt that is warm, although shorts are still fine. Saw an Idiot on the road with his MTB no lights and no reflectors and wearing darker colors, also no helmet. I caught most of the lights and didn't have to go through any red lights since there was plenty of traffic to get the lights to green.
Sometimes I have to run the reds cause there are no cars around and it takes forever for the light to change or I have to completely unclip both feet to get to the button for the cross walk. 1 more day of work then get to do my longer rides this weekend. 20 miles on Sat and 50 miles on Sunday.

Was mucho warm for september morning. Also Roads were wet.

Nice ride this morning. Mostly sunny. High 50sF. Gnarly bit of headwind. I plowed through okay. Seems I might get rained upon during my ride home. Tailwind though!

I saw a squirrel with half a tail. Cute little dude.

Wife is sicker then a dog, so I had to get all the kids off to school, by then it was pouring and I was already an hour late for work, so I drove.

great ride in, tackled the big hill too...i brought gloves but didnt really need them...i am going to have to get used to the feeling of gloved hands on the handlebar...ick

Fantastic ride in! Broke my time record. Friendly cagers. What more could a guy ask for?

Nice ride this morning, humid with wet roads in southeast MO. What a blessing to be able to commute by bicycle!

Didn't ride today; too windy (20mph winds with 44mph gusts) thanks to Hurricane Ike. Got new fenders and my Brooks B17 saddle yesterday, so I've got my weekend project lined up.

Last 2 days haven't rained...but Tues and Wed I was up at 05:20 into my cycling gear....breakfast....then the heavens opened - too wet to cycle. Bummer. Yesterday and today was great, dark, no traffic. 19k commute west out of Dublin to Kildare...

I also hate these temps. It was about 15C this morning, and I wasn't sure how to dress. I ended up with short sleeves under a jacket, and ended up too hot! I removed the jacket, and had to put it back on because I was freezing. I got to ride down by the river, however, and it was beautiful. But those stupid tram tracks, I just can't seem to ride anywhere near them without sooner or later, getting a tire down inside. :-( Very irritating. :-)

Pinch flat 10 minutes in. Too far to walk back. Too early to bother waking up the wife. Threw on my slow leak spare and got to the bus stop about 3 miles away.

Last 5 commutes = 6 flats. Common denominator is the slime tire liners. I"m ditching them. I think with the high pressure tires, they add just that much more pressure on the tube against the rim. I'll be upgrading rim tape as well, but I'm just going to bite the bullet and upgrade my tires to Marathon Plus's or Conti Gators or something. The liners aren't worth the hastle.

ride home last night, I was flying, fastest trip ever. Had my first confrontation with a motorist on my new route and was surprised with who it was. You'd figure someone else on two wheels would have a clue with what we go through out there. Some knob on a Harley parked behind me at a traffic light says "hey, this ain't the bike path, get the #$@! out of the way." I just snorted and ignored him (a year ago I'd have yapped at him, I held back, I must be getting smarter). He switched lanes and went around me.

Friday! Huzzah! Traffic was thick today. After a summer off, people are re-learning to drive. Signalling a lane change? Nah. Shoulder-checking? Nope. I'm not much better - I have to turn my biker-sens-o-matic up to full power, after it being mostly off over the summer.

I am going to get my lights up and running this weekend for sure!

Low 50's and rain the entire way. This was the first time this entire year where I used all of my rain gear. The Portland was AWESOME! So, that is 2 days this week commuting in the rain. Monday was more misty with wet pavement. Today was a good constant rain.

I had fun riding in the rain! Felt kind of like being a kid again! Can't wait for the ride home!

Yesterday afternoon: perfect. This morning: aside from going in an hour early, perfect. We're getting into Fall weather here, which of course is nice. I tolerate southern summer heat pretty easily, but cooler temps are quite welcome anyway.

Perfect morning ride! Cool temps, and warmer later today, so I could go with just a t-shirt. I've been wanting more speed, and the bike is decently deft, but that pannier really is noticeable. Had a 10-minute argument with myself about leaving it--it has my seatbag in it, since I haven't been able to attach it since I got the Champion Flyer (which rocks). And in that seatbag is spare tire, CO2 inflater, etc., etc. All my emergency kit! What if I get a flat? Oh God!

Adventure won and I just took off. Mmm, nice and light, and my hilly long way back has been paying off, I'm blasting (for me) out of the intersections, laughing maniacally. Cars are polite and I'm extra alert.

One honk on my very final turn into work's parking lot. What? We're both turning left! I think he forgot he had his signal on. Whatever, I arrive happy and only a touch damp. Whoo!

I'm thinking about getting one of those fixie things. They weigh like nothing. I need n+1 bikes.

Humid and wet in the morning on the way to the gym. Then it was misting rain between the gym and the office, so I donned the rain jacket. All in all quite a pleasant ride. Since it was later in the morning that I usually ride, the side streets were pretty free of traffic, so pretty much had them to myself.

There's a lot to be said for riding in a gentle rain. This was the first time I did it intentionally. Nice. Still have to make the trip home though, but the weather appears about the same: drizzle/light mist.

The commute yesterday sucked big time. As I was walking out of the office in full bike clothing I find my bike gone. Stolen. Taken from me. So I got exactly 0 miles in. I feel so empty inside.

That royally su*ks. What kind of bike did you have? Was it very distinctive, so maybe it'll be found. My son's bike was lifted, and fortunately he found the person riding it a short distance away and recovered. Mine was stolen about 3 months ago, never seen or heard from again. Hope you have better luck than me with recovery. Meanwhile good looking on CL or whatever for your replacement.

My 15-mile trek is devoid of significant hills, except for one short stand-up-and-mash section, which leaves me huffing for air on my single speed. This was especially true on my last commute, as I've been suffering from a touch of a cold/flu.

Unfortunately, I started huffing right when a garbage pulled up next to me and matched my pace (or lack thereof) in thick traffic. Well, whatever was decomposing / fermenting in the back of that rig had me immediately go from huffing to hurling.

The upside was that I got to enjoy more than three feet of clearance from the cagers crawling by!

After about a month off I finally got back to riding today. Between a back injury, vacation and reinjuring my back it was a long month of driving. Then I was ready to pedal my way in and it was too dark to ride without a headlight. Went to the LBS and got the new niterider setup. Got it hooked up and rolled out of the garage and it was sprinkling. Screw it, I missed my bike. Got to work wet but with a smile on my face.

I got a night rider a couple of weeks ago. so far I love it, no problems even in the rain.

It's pretty much one of a kind bike. I would almost say it's unique in the US.

I have been really enjoying my ride-it is not even a commute yet-but I am getting used to the path I will take before school starts. Its about 33 miles total, and I have been doing the 15 there and back this week. I have been comfortable except for my bottom and my back.... I dont know if it is because I havent ever rode that kind of distance, or if my seat might be positioned wrong. Anyone have advice or experiences like that?

^ ^^ I just got in from the dark--I kind of like the rush of cruising along the bike path with just the light and being all alone.
