Bikes: Cannondale T700s and a few others

Between weather, getting a bug, needing to haul stuff, places to be after work it has been the better part of 2 weeks since I even got on a bike.

Little chilly and a little windy today but it sure beat driving the truck!

On the ride home lastnight, a guy called over "Pop a wheelie!" I chose to ignore him. I just wanted to get home and go to bed- I had to work at 7 this morning. I drove to work today- I awoke on the recliner, still with my cycling cleats on, stinking to High Heaven. It was too late to ride. The low fuel light is on in my car, so I'll be riding in the rest of the week. Maybe I'll pop a wheelie...

Recovery week day 4. I am slowly loosing my mind. However, my legs are no longer aching before I get out of bed.

I had a flat tire after work and tried to pump it up before I left. Then the tube split in half.
So I took it over to a nearby park to change the tube while enjoying the sunny 70 degree weather.
That and I finally was able to use my co2 inflator. Big thumbs up!
Had a tailwind and nice temps all the way home. I can not think of anything more to ask for.

Madison Ave. sucks for riding a bike on. Hope my rims aren't bent.

Ride home was great. I even rode past the house and continued down to the park to ride around. Then I went home, got out my 16" Flying Pigeon folder just to put a few miles (4) in on it. I promised myself that I would ride my inexpensive folder more often to see if I really want to put down money on an expensive one.
I'm gonna sleep good tonight.

nice ride in and a nice ride home. Thankful there were no despondent, incoherent, bridge jumpers on my way home tonight.

7 degrees C and surrounded by that typical north of Scotland damp mist. The MUP they are upgrading with granite dust feels really soft and I hope with a bit of time and gravity it becomes firmer and I can cut my time by a few minutes more. Annoyingly, it ends at a farm and I still have to walk atop a dry stone wall to avoid the 20 foot long puddle full of cow s***.

Rode in today cuz the car is in the shop. Only my 2nd bike commute of the year :-( - Both of my available commute routes are in the midst of road construction which makes for a much less pleasant ride than typical. Hoping that stupid Walmart opens up soon so they get rid of all the orange barrels and reopen the travel lanes. The ride was good, a bit chilly, but bike and body both performed well and no cager incidents to report. Annoying little head wind coming out of the North - should make for a nice tailwind on the way home though.

Mid 30sF. Yet another sunny ride. No wind. I saw a woman on a cruiser with a basket riding the other way. She needed to fix something. It was making an odd noise as she pedaled. She was the only cyclist I saw until I was at a red light about a block from work. A roadie came up next to me. I said hi. He said hi. The light changed. I let him go first because I didn't have far to go. He spun up the hill. I mashed behind him until I turned off. Kind of a fun way to end the ride.

Legs a little empty this morning but I felt good about the sunny, windless, 4 degree C ride in. I did a double take at the bathroom scales this morning, I have lost 5 pounds since March 21st when I started to ride into work.

I need to stop doing boneheaded moves like cutting in front of trucks through rapidly shrinking gaps. It's fun, but I should know better. If only drivers would stop forcing me to ride circles around them with their bovine-like wandering.

Very nice weather this morning, almost time to loose the jacket and gloves on the way in. 1 other bike commuter on my route. Bike rack out back is full, though.

Bikes: See my sig...

It was a balmy 40F this morning and the commute was pretty wonderful being that it was my girl's first commute to school ever... they thought it was awesome and did not think riding 5 km / 3 miles was anything special although some other parents were amazed we rode a distance of 40 city blocks.

Perhaps a few folks might find some inspiration in this and see if they can fill that bike rack.

Bikes: "Hildy", a Novara Randonee touring bike; a 16-speed Bike Friday Tikit; and a Specialized Stumpjumper frame-based built-up MTB, now serving as the kid-carrier, grocery-getter.

Ran into Strida Lady again today. Had a nice chat about bikes for about 10 minutes while waiting for our respective trains.

It's a gorgeous day! Sunny, warm, and I'm off tomorrow.

The recent snow is finally gone and it was a chilly -2c this morning but glorious to be back on the bike after a long hard winter. +7c on the way home should be awesome.

Second day ever commuting, 12 miles each way from Brooklyn to midtown Manhattan and back. My God am I SLOW. Granted I was loaded down like I was heading on a two-week vacation the first day, but even with a somewhat lighter load the 2nd trip I wasn't that much quicker.

Today was gorgeous compared to slogging through 44F rain the first time 'round!

I quit smoking 105 days ago, and am trying to shed the extra 10 lbs that snuck up on me... I guess with full pannier and extra poundage I'm bound to feel pokey!

This better get better

CONGRATULATIONS !

My commute today was Great! A little windy. But better than the crap we've had to ride in the last few days. This morning had some fog that was cool. I could see the beam coming off of my flashlight 'er' I mean my headlight. The aftn was 64f and sunshiny. I wore a long sleeve jersey, cotton shorts and sandals with the socks on. I listened to Pink Floyd on the radio. Life is groovy.

Bikes: See my sig...

The afternoon commute (with the girls) went really well although I was happy to have made it home without having to walk...

The retaining pin on my v-brake cartridge seems to have backed itself out just enough to have scrubbed the sidewall of my tyre which was showing some good damage after just 20 - 30 km km of riding. It was fine when I checked it the other day and have not ridden the bike much at all.

I had been meaning to swap to thinner faster tyres so installed a 20 by 1.35 Primo Comet I had up front which, at 100 psi, will roll out much faster than the 60 psi 1.95 Kenda.

Now I have to go and pick up a mate for the Comet and get that installed... and they are evil little tyres to get on.

I am looking forward to the performance upgrade.

My front tire, the one without the tire liner, blew on the ride home this evening- luckily I was within walking distance to my front door. It's a Gatorskin, and I'm hoping it's tube failure, not tire failure. Time to go to the LBS and give them some business...
