Welcome back Merry!!!! Been wondering about ya.
Cool this am. at about 39F, no wind and a beautiful full moon on my back! Could see my shadow before day break. Wonderful afternoon, 70F with a very light tail wind (for once). More tomorrow. |
Great ride to work,But on the way home all most hit someone on there bike .He was going the wrong way, on a one way street .He did not have any light on his bike .I had a head light and flashing lights on by bike . I all so seen a lot of nite people out . Other then that it was a nice night . Thanks

Guys, thanks for the helpful zen posts. Ride in this morning in the weather we describe here as driech - grey, drizzley, dark, twilight all daytime. Still a bit preoccupied but feeling a lot more like my usual calmness-on-a-bike self. Good stuff.

I am finally starting to shake off an appauling cold that has been my constant companion for the last week - so I have been limiting mileage to the minimum. Unfortunately, the rainy ride today was not particularly enjoyable. Not only that but while giving te bike a quick wipe down to remove the gunk that was on the rims, another spoke gave up the ghost. Grrrr.
Cheers, Ed |
Hooked up with one guy going downtown. With the accident on the 401, Yonge st. was bumper to bumper from (funny enough) major mack down to steeles. Doing 40kph+ on the flats.
What a blast. |
Cool this morning with a low of 46F. Nice ride though. Had a couple of people pull out in fromt of me only to stop at the last minute. That sucked.
|
cloudless, 48 °F to start. traffic lights in town were unsynchronized, so that added some time. but time on the bike, even waiting at lights, is sweet.
|
Upper 30s (F) at Burlington airport this morning. Shorts, windbreaker, hat, gloves. Bit of Limp Bizkit on the Rio and I was good to go. :)
I saw one Serious Biker Chick heading north on the trail. Yellow jacket. Full luggage. We nodded in acknowledgement as we passed one another. I wish I had a camera yesterday though. Spooked a couple of neighborhood deer (female). |
plus 2C, cloudy - supposed to rain/snow tonight; it could be interesting tomorrow. I am getting more comments like "you are still riding your bike, huh?" Riding makes the bad days pretty good and the great days even better.
Have a great day. |
Gorgeous, gorgeous day. Actually had to get out the gloves. Arrived at work with pink cheeks and happy smile. There was frost at my house, but supposed to be 65 today. I love this weather!!!!

48F with patches of dense fog @ 5:50 AM & still cloudy when I rode home for lunch. The sun is just peeking through the clouds as I head back to work. Surprisingly few vehicles on the road today.
|
I've been overly lazy this week...have only commuted 2x. I'M SOO GUILTY!
At least I slept in everyday, and rode 5+ after the bus ride...zzzZZzzzZZZzzzz... |
Beautiful ride home in the dark and the fog. Late from work so the roads were empty so there was only the faint hum of my tyres keeping me company for most of the ride. The mist made it like a whole new route home. Beautiful.
Time for a beer! |
A cool (to me) 65F this morning. If it gets any cooler, I may have to go with long sleeves. Traffic not too bad close to home. A little worse closer to work. I'm still working up to full time commuting, and my legs felt a little rubbery this morning, but they're feeling better now. My glasses kept fogging up. Humidity must have been >90%. One red light sensor wouldn't work for me. I had to use the crosswalk. Also had one car reach the intersection at the same time I did, and I thought that they were going to try to beat me (they could have made it, but I'd had to get on the brakes), but they stopped at the last minute. Overall, an OK ride. Currently 79F without a cloud in the sky. Looking forward to the ride home. I may try a detour this afternoon to avoid some traffic.

Almost called in sick today due to a raging migraine. I waited past the latest time I have ever allowed myself to leave for work, hoping the headache would at least weaken. It didn't. I can't call in sick -- I depend on the bonus of two weeks pay I receive for perfect attendance. I can't drive -- my old van needs brakes. With 40 minutes left to get to work, during the busiest time of the daily commute (7-8 AM) here in the Chicago west burbs, I jumped on the bike. I knew I was going to have to hammer to make the 12 mile commute before my 8 AM start time. A lot of times it's hard to make it on time in a car, much less leaving at the same time on a bicycle.
AMAZING -- after five minutes on the bike my headache turned to a small buzz. Maybe it was the cool air or the exercise -- I don't know. My legs felt strong enough to maintain a faster than normal pace. I hit most of the green lights. My drivetrain held steady (it's past worn out and has been slipping every time I stomp on the pedals). I clocked in a 8:06 AM. Close enough. I can work an extra 15 minutes and keep my perfect attendance. The headache is better, although I am going to have to buy some Pepto Bismol to help get rid of it. Best year of bike commuting yet and today is one example. The bike heals, brothers and sisters. Can I get a witness?!!!? |
*raises hand*
It certainly does heal. Most of my headaches go away or are reduced by a lot when I get to work. I love it. |
Was cool here in Indy this morning, only able to ride in today as the wife is picking me up after work for her birthday dinner. Mini-van, 4 kids, bike rack, what a combo.
This has been a great summer, starting riding 1-2 miles a night, now commuting 3 times a week and group rides on the weekend. I <3 my bike :D |
I recently got a new bike and just started commuting regularly. My commutes (6.5 miles each way) have been lovely. Today the weather was cool. A bit of fog in the morning but clear with some sun this evening. My route is mostly on city streets. The only problems are the drivers who seem to want to prove a point by gunning their engines as they overtake me.
I agree with the bike heals comment. Some mornings I'm tired and have no enthusiasm for riding to work. But I climb on the bike and start peddling anyway. By the second mile I feel great. |
The mornings have been getting a little cool for me. I'm the kind of person who likes summer and enjoy leaving for my Sat/Sun ride around noon when the temperature is 90F. :)
It's great to be commuting again. The two "big" hills I hit going to work and coming home are getting much easier. I've only been commuting (a.k.a. employed) for about 5 weeks. Another few weeks and they'll be a piece of cake. ;) |
Good ride today, Nice and fast.
Thanks . |
foggy, wet and cool but a great ride. Aren't they all?
|
more perfect weather (clear, 48 °F). was almost taken out twice by quick-right-turn-without-signaling boneheads, but for some reason i can usually sense when that's about to happen. so here i am, not dead or anything.
|
Great ride this morning. It was 10C, and the air felt crisp again. For the 2nd time this week, I had company, which made the ride even more pleasant. Was great!
|
Today it is clear sunny and feels like -15C with a headwind. Hard to believe there was ice on my rid from runoff from lawns being watered. There was fog comming off the lake...it looked pretty cool.
Another awesome day in Regina, Saskatchewan. Have a great day! |
I was running late this morning but it's a Friday morning during a slow time of the year so I wasn't going to hammer in. Perfect weather for a commute yet again and I've noticed a few more bikes in the cage. I still feel like we're all in on a little secret about how nice it is to ride your bike to work.
