Forgetful. I realized that I forgot my gloves halfway across my buildings parking lot, but don't feel like going back to get them. I realized I forgot my helmet halfway to work. Luckily I did remember my bike.

Finally back on the bike after a solid 2 weeks off, my longest drought since I started commuting I think. Was out of town all last week for a conference though so it's not too bad. Had a very nice ride in this morning. The golf course I cut through has a creek running through it that flooded way over it's banks yesterday leaving mud everywhere. I got sprayed with mud and water and my bike is now dirty from it. Sun was rising and the temps were mild and I enjoyed the ride in. Looking forward to the ride home and I might even ride to my soccer game tonight since it is so nice and my game is only a few miles from home :)

Oh, and the ride today was great. It felt good to back after a day off (my first day off for weather since December, I think). Fortunately yesterday's deluge seems to have cleared the roads of the idiots I encountered Tuesday. |
It was like a mini-TDF today. I was humming along and . . . ZOOM, this guy shoots by me, really working it. I pass him right back but stop at the stop sign. This dude SHOOTS passed the stop sign, cutting off a turning car, just to pass me! Geesh, some people. :)

Even if he is a wuss that won't ride in the rain :D Short ride in today, it's my rest day, gonna ride to my wifes work after I get off work, so we can go with our real estate agent and look at houses. I miss the ride to my wifes work from my work, it's about 5 or 6 miles, mostly down or accross hills (very little uphill action) and really fast. It's been months since I've done that ride. |
I had a very nice 22 mile sunrise ride down to Clarksburg and back. It was wonderful. Then I got home, hopped in the shower and dressed for work, helped my wife get the kids ready for daycare, and back out the door. The temp was in the high 50s and beautifully clear. I even passed a few other commuters. Nice.
|
My commute consisted of a ride to the airport and a roundtrip flight to Washington DC for a 3 hr. meeting. Blah. Back on the bike commute for tomorrow.
|
Today was pretty good. I bough rain pants so of course its going to be sunny for the rest of the week. Oh well. Just counting down the hours till my ride home.
|
No commute today (3rd time this year). had to go to crisis-training 35 miles from here, then to the South Jersey Bicycle Coalition meeting (another 20 miles) and got out of that at 8:15pm tonight, home at 9:30pm (60mph). i know, "no excuses" but.... :-)
|
Good commute, saw a buttload of cyclist, I got "dropped" by all of them. My excuse: I was carrying a duffelbag loaded with a judogi and lunch.
Anyways I was also "dropped" by a single-speed NY messenger look-a-like(complete with bag), later on I saw his bike parked outside a starbucks that was on my route, I guess you can't really deliver all those important documents without getting your frappucino fix. But he sure was fast though, he blasted thru the hills like it was flat. |
this morning's commute was from my parents' house, since I rode there yesterday to visit and stayed the night. beautiful weather in the morning, perfect for riding, even on Hyattsville's tore-up streets. saw another commuter early in the ride... always good to see more of us out there. the route I use to get to my parents house from campus and vice versa is almost all residential streets, so the commute from my parents' house has a distinctively different feel to it compared to my regular commute... definitely felt less like a hammerfest and more like a relaxed ride in to school. the fact that I left very early probably helped too. as expected I got in really early... 45 minutes to spare! had more time to cool down which is always a good thing. great commute!
it got really windy in the afternoon, so I decided to just head home, but not before adding on an extra mile loop via Mowatt Lane and Preinkert Drive. had to get some extra mileage in, even if it was just a little bit. the wind was really kickin' and right in my face but other than that it was a great ride back also. |
Mine was fine about 10 minutes in each direction in perfect weather.
I haven't posted here for a while but I've been biking to work 97 % of the time. I stopped using the internet at work. We had to take a computer security course that kind of scared me off of it. Oh well I do a lot more work now, and I guess that is what I'm being paid to do. |
first commute in Manhattan in a while. It was short and sweet and fast. first thing I ended up doing when I got to work was trim my hbars about an 1 1/2 on either side. (I'd been meaning to do that in Boston since I put on these new riser bars but really felt the need in NYC) Fortunately/unfortunately where I'm living is walkable to where I'm working while I'm here so I may not always ride in.
Hope to get a little tour of NYC ride in next week when things settle down a bit workwise. Right now loooong days and not much time to ride. Too bad too since I was just starting to get a reasonable level of fitness. Many more riders and commuters in NYC these days since I last lived here and it's great- I don't feel so alone. hey, does anyone know the name of that place downtown on the east side that helps kids learn to work on bikes and sells beater/city bikes? I bought a bike there a few years ago and some of the people who've come down with me are looking for those kinds of bikes- IM me if you know the place I'm talking about- thanks. |

Fast both ways, passed some cars, didn't get buzzed, it's all good.

It's pissing rain out, and windy. I've got the space heater in my office on it's back blowing hot air up thru the wet clothes hanging above it. They should be dry by the time I go home. I had to give someone the finger this morning, I hate doing that. I cracked the 1400km mark for mileage this year.
|
Commuted down 2nd Ave. instead of my usual Lexington to avoid traffic and crappy roads. Instead, I got worse traffic that steered me into the crappy parts of the road. On the bright side, no one's in the office today except me so I've made an executive decision to work all day in shorts and a t-shirt. I'll leave my work clothes here for Monday.
|
Nice today. Sunny & 50s. A little bit of a headwind but I plowed through it. Saw a couple of other cyclists heading in the opposite direction. For some reason I'm craving glazed doughnuts. :o
|
Raining and windy today. The weather got progressively worse as I got closer to work. Perhaps it was a warning that I should have stayed home... Regardless, I'm heading home at lunch to take a nap and then sneak out for a ride. I hope the weather has improved by then.
|
Wet today, but at least it wasn't pouring. Overall, it wasn't too bad.
|
AAHHHGG!!! THE WIND! Yesterdays ride home was not the joyfull downhill jaunt I so fondly remember it being because of THE WIND! gusts up to 40 something MPH...AND I didn't have my sun glasses, so it was mighty squinty and gritty.
Good news is we went and looked at houses and found one we light, gonna put an offer in today, I HOPE WE GET IT! It's in a great neighborhood, and about the same distance from my work as our current house. Also it's closer to my wifes work than where we currently are so...it'd be pretty sweet to move there. |
Great ride. Since it's Friday I decided to just take it easy. Only increased my time by a few minutes.
Didn't see any other commuters today. :( Had one minor problem. The university I ride thru is having summer camp and all the soccer moms (and a few dads) were parked in the bike lane. I guess they can't read the sign. http://dwjay.tripod.com/jay/bicycle/...no_parking.gif I told one person he was blocking the bike lane and he said I could kiss his ... Maybe I should have waited until he went inside and then let the air out of his tire. http://users.telenet.be/eforum/emoticons4u/evil/107.gif |
absolutely perfect. Cooled down a bit in Denver, so only in the 80s today. I'm never in a better mood than when I arrive at work fresh and charged up, and have some alone time with my cofee before everyone arrives!
