funny how easily acclimated we become. the temp around here has been between 15-25F the last couple of days and it feels warm to me. I think being outside everyday on the bike allows the body to adjust. It certainly feels warmer than when it hovered near zero with really strong winds.

The Charles River has a nice wind blown coating of ice. I ride home at night and love the stillness. All the geese have gathered at an outflow pipe near Watertown Square.

Unusually warm at 45 F on the way to work and 48 Degrees after dark on the way home. 41 to 42 degrees AT work. I do quality Assurance work in a food processing plant making thing like fire roasted tomato Hummus, Caramel cream dips, and South Western chicken salad. For obvious reasons the process has to be kept cold. My 7 mile ride home in the dark was the only time I was warm.

Hot! I overdressed. About 3 miles into the ride, I unzipped my jacket. It was 21F. What's that, 25 degrees warmer than the last time I rode to work? The packed MUP snow softened up nicely and was smoother under my wheels. A bit of a southerly headwind, but nothing bad.

It might get above freezing today and/or tomorrow. I'm so acclimated, I'm going to be an overheated wreck if that happens.

Well I left early to beat in the snow and managed to get to work before it started falling. It is coming down pretty good now and looks so pretty. It will probably be all rain by this afternoon so it will be a wet ride home. I just hope there isn't much traffic out that I have to deal with. People around here really have no clue how to drive in the snow/sleet/freezing rain.

As always...not nearly as bad as the TV & radio predicted. It was tough to get out of bed knowing that it was cold and sleety outside, and the rain on the roof almost made me call in sick. But I braved the weather anyway and got a bit damp, though I was surprisingly warm -- good layering I guess. And I'm disappointed in my hydroskins socks which soaked through the toes in about 5 minutes.

Wow, that sounds like the perfect morning. I always fantasize about getting up early to ride and then make it home in time to get my son up, but... I never do. I'm more of a night rider.

Since it's been in the 20s the past couple days in our nation's capital, I dressed the same and then chanced to call Verizon weather. 32 degrees! Am SO glad I checked because there's nothing more I hate than overheating, and it's such a pain in the ass to stop and undress due to my way-overly-complicated packing methodology. So it ended up being a great, cool ride in, with a few flakes starting to fall as I pulled up in front of the gym.

Supposed to snow substantially today, which is a bummer. I'm still having to ride my roadbike in, and those slick tires are gonna let me down one of these days. My new commuter bike should be ready to go by Monday.

We got some snow overnight, and people lost their minds. I'll spare you the mundane details, but suffice to say my wife was ready to pull a guy out of his car and beat him to death with his own arm after he squeezed her out her lane.

The reported temperature was -16C with windchill to -29C, but I think it was more like -20C with windchill. It will be warmer on the way home but ultimately worse riding because of the salt and sand that will go down on the roads this afternoon.

Yesterday, I left an hour early to beat the storm, which was nice because I still had my slicks on. This morning brought 2-3 inches of the white stuff, and a studded front. Fun commute, met up with another commuter about a mile from work, together we were probably more visible, plus I could choose a good line based on his.

As much as I would like to commute by bike, the distance of the commute has made it difficult to do. If I commute it would be 90 miles round trip by bike. By car it is 60 miles.

After seeing several bike commuters on my drive to work in the northern california bay area, I made up my mine to commute by bike as much as possible. So with the support of my co-workers, I can at least ride home part way 3x a week.

I drive to a park n ride area where my co worker picks me up and then I ride back from the office after work. The commute is 30 miles. On Fridays, I have another co worker pick me up at home. Then I can ride home with my commute being 45 miles.

The commutes to the park and ride are roughly 1 hour and 35 minutes and the friday ride home is usually 2 hours and 15 minutes.

The commuting/riding in general has help me tremenously in controling my diabetes and weight. So far the results by biking/commuting are my doctor has reduced my medication for my diabetes in half and I have lost 25 lbs.

rode in the 34F drizzle this am, snowing outside now, 33F. I have no waterproof gear... but can swipe a trash can bag from the cleaning crew and make do.
I'm in for a cold ride home!

I seem to spend more time cleaning my bike these days than riding it... Kind of annoying. But the riding is nice. I am also seeing a lot more bikers than a few winters back. Or am I just noticing them more cause I'm more interested in biking? I dunno.

Nice ride both ways. Sprinted from every light for fun.(After checking for cross traffic) I hope my new 925 comes tomorrow, I want to ride fixed for some variety.

As for me another streets ride in today and home. I prefer the mindlessness I can engage in on the bike path. did a little section of the path tonight on the way over to BU and a rat ran across the path and it made me holler, not scream- holler- a much more masculine response.

oooh first commute of the am!
wife woke me 4am, sister-in-law is having her baby, so wife leaves to go help out.

So I come into work early. it snowed about an inch last night; bridges are icy. pretty spooky in places. Weather is awesome, 30f and still. new Schwalbe Marathons kept me upright thus far - glad i have a little bit of tread pattern to hold onto the snow.

you northerners will laugh, but these icy roads are getting old! they don't plow or spread salt, just spread some sand on it & go home. doesn't do much, and they're bout out of sand! this is the 3rd or 4th time this winter already, the local authorities are not used to dealing with winter weather, and local residents (self included) are not able to drive in it

currently -7F (-22 celsius) with a -24F (-31 celsius) windchill. leaving for work in about an hour. dang!

It was 28 when I rode home yesterday. It felt like spring. I had all sorts of energy. The sunset was very pretty but the cell phone isn't good at capturing that stuff. Oh well.

No ride this morning. Hiked to the bus instead. Going out drinking after work.
I saw a couple of people riding though. It's 22F. Balmy!

Rode through some light rain last night on my way home. Since school was canceled there wasn't too much traffic. This morning I got a wave from a high school girl walking to her bus stop, saw another commuter and got buzzed by a couple of cars in the 45mph zone. It was wet and misting but it wasn't too bad. I took the shorter route which cut out about a half mile since I was tired.

Nice ride in today- streets and MUP were clear of ice, but a slight glazing on some concrete, brick driveways, etc. No incidents, and then when I roll into our parking deck and take my foot off the pdeals and onto the curb I almost bit it due to hidden ice...

Lowered my seat 10mm, and my bike is comfortable to ride again. My wife was pretty slow this morning. I kept dropping her, then I realized the dial was set at 400W. Who knew?

A balmy -10C this morning, 1 inch of fresh on the ground and still snowing.

A nice, uneventful ride in this morning. Temp around 41F. Ordered some Ortlieb bags the other day - can't wait until they get in! At the rate I'm going, I'll start saving money by bike commuting around the time I turn 100. At least it's good exercise.

In a word...cool!
