Nice ride in this morning. Weather was cool [somewhat] and humid. Drivers must have been mad about having to go to work. I think I got buzzed 3 or 4 times today. Silly Motorists... you can't scare me like that. I'm used to it.

GREAT RIDE in today!!! I just felt alive and was burning up the asphalt!! I wish I had the time I could have taken a nice ride instead of going to work.

I thought that was just me. When drivers buzz me, pass aggressively, whatever, I think to myself, "I don't initimidate that easily." Of course, I say this silently to myself, as I don't want them to up the ante, as it were

2 incidents today on the way in.

First a red-faced fatty slows down and beeps angrily at me while gesturing vigorously at the cyle lane, which is impossible to ride on on a road bike because the surface is absolutely godawful. He got a cheery one-fingered salute, as the law has just been re-worded in the UK explicity stating that you don't have to use a cycle lane if one is available.

Then, just after pulling out of a T-junction, the car hurtling up behind me, who'd been a good 100m back when I pulled out, suddenly slams on her brakes and skids about 20m behind me (wet road, cretin at wheel) and also gives me an angry blast. She was quite pretty though so I blew her a kiss. Although she really deserved a sharp stick to the guts.

Apart from that, spent much of the 12 miles obsessively trying to make the avg/mph number on my new computer get higher... - averaged a mere 15.5 mph, need taller gearing!

Sun is currently shining, looking forward to the ride home in about 15 minutes...

Once again, I find myself with an embarrassment of riches: two bikes at work. Friday afternoon I met my wife for an after-work event and drove home with her. I kept thinking that over the weekend I'd retrieve it, but that never happened.

Good ride in today. Trailered both kids to their respective destinations, took direct, nasty-ish route from Thing 2's daycare, detoured to bank machine. No achilles tendon complaints from winding loaded ride, so that was a major plus. But doesn't really surprise me after 2 days off, we'll see what tomorrow pm feels like.

Nice ride in this morning. Took a break from the fixies and rode my 29er in to work with its brand new 2.3" Exiwolf tires. Those things are HUGE and make the bike look super intimidating. Didn't have a single car mess with me, though when they do the nasty look and hand on the U-Lock tends to make them back off. It was a slower ride in which I attribute to the headwind and bigger tires, but it was fun. After work I'm going down to the greenbelt and doing some off-roading, hence the big bike and big tires.

Not a bad day in: great weather in the morning despite a couple strange driving incidents (a work van zooming past a little closer than necessary and a jeep pulling a skidding right turn from the left lane, cutting off another car (not in my direction, thankyouverymuch)). On the way home I got 'caught' by guy who asked directions to Forest Park (he was running all the lights, so he was 'faster'). I guess he didn't catch it all, because I saw him later asking another cyclist for directions. Also talked to some people while at the grocery store bike rack. Hopefully convinced one to start commuting via bike (he gets paid extra for it, so I don't see why not!).

My ride home: 5.6 mi Avg spd... 15.5mph... I love this computer! I was hitting 21 mph in the flats when I was having to push to get out of trafic.... Booyah!

this was my first real ride w/ my new San Jose. Its about 15 mi one way. I can mos def feel the difference in the tires, I may get some road tires for this bike...its a little slower than my old road bike.

or it could be because I have not road a bike in 2 weeks (bike accident) and also went on vacation. So I may be a little out of shape

Another atypically fine weather day here in the RTP area. The humidity feels like its a bit higher than yesterday, but still much lower than the typical 70F dew point (I'm guessing the DP was in the upper 50's this AM). I'm toying with the idea of riding a metric century tomorrow. My arthritic left knee has been bothering me some, and I don't want to aggravate it any more than necessary. I've done the "Firecracker 100" 10 years in a row now and this year will definitely be the coolest weather I've ever seen for it. Hard to pass that up.

Woke up 20 minutes late, and had to skip my pre-ride shower. Went out the door on schedule and found it was a *chilly* morning in southern NH, upper 40s F. Fortuntely, I warmed up after 5 minutes or so and all was good.

This being my third time commuting to work by bike, I'm continuing to pare down what I need to bring in with me on the bike. This is the first time I managed to keep everything I needed in my seat bag without requiring additional cargo space. Clothes and snacks are stowed at work.

Today will be a good day.

I have my mtn bike set up for commuting, but today I took the road bike & used a backpack. I really enjoyed riding the road bike more, but I didn't care for the backpack. I'll have to get my Blackburn rack moved over the road bike so I can use my panniers. I had a couple of misfires (didn't start the computer at the start of the ride, my mirror came off mid-ride), but I still enjoyed the ride a lot.

Another nice morning for a commute, not as much traffic out but still ran into a JAM. A woman decided that me going the speed limit of 25 wasn't good enough for her so she beeped and passed me. Got her license plate and reported her to the local Road Rage Hotline. Last night I also had another woman pass me as we were approaching a red light, she beeped as she passed me so when I passed her while she was waiting in line I yelled "beeeeeeeeeeeeeep" at her since she had her sunroof open

Had to miss a couple of days, but back in the saddle today. Still cool this morning, not too buggy. County fair is going on so the boys are going to ride over with the day care provider and watch another of her kids show a cow.
Now THAT'S excitement!

Hey Lucky, what's that number? I haven't seen it advertised on local TV or anything, and God knows I could make use of it...

My commute was smooth and quiet. I realized last week--after getting the chain replaced because it was completely stretched--that the chain had damaged the cassette. Took the bike in for a replacement cassette Saturday and got it back last night. Man, what a difference it made.

The ride today was both mellow and easy. After Sunday's grunt up Highwood Pass, then a day off, the legs were fresh.

Good commute. Trailered Thing 2 to daycare, dashed back along detour to mup I would take if starting from home, caught wife for last mile of her commute, then resumed dash for my last mile. Gonna be hot today.

Yesterday was crazy day, 3 lefthook near misses, after none for like years!

The weather is just UFB! Cool and dry.

I just wanted to skip work and ride all day.

Nice ride in today. I decided to see how fast I could go down Elbow Drive as the traffic was pretty light. I discovered that you absolutely HAVE to take the lane on that road as the rightmost 5 feet of the road are horrendously cratered and bumpy. Also, people passed me in the other lane instead of buzzing me when I moved 2 feet over onto the smooth part. Beat my usual time by 15 minutes! (traffic was VERY light and I hit almost all the lights on green).

on yesterday's ride home, passing through Lexington center on the Minuteman bikeway, a roadie caught up to me at a stop sign, and followed me across the intersection to the continuation of the bikeway, where the grade goes from level and ever so slightly uphill to ever so slightly downhill. I picked up speed and got up to 24/25 mph and pulled this guy for about two miles, then he took his turn and passed me and yelled, 'you're a freaking monster! how the hell do you ride so fast with those two panniers?'

'who needs training when you've got a commute?'

I stayed on his wheel for another mile or so, then had to peel off to get groceries. Roadie shook his head over the fact that I was gladly adding more weight to my bike.

Commute in today was slow as I was riding with a co-worker who's newly initiated to bike commuting and she was getting used to riding with a backpack (her bike doesn't have racks). Kept on getting passed by roadies (even one guy who was hauling on a hybrid) and I so badly wanted to get on their wheels, but figured I'd be the nice guy and hang back.

Much too short today. I'd hoped to do a longer loop but was caught by my clingy 3-year old daughter. I sat with her for awhile until she decided she'd sleep for another hour. By this time it was getting on towards 7 and I just had time for a quick out and back down to Freeport. Saw a few other commuters and fitness riders and tried to share the bike love with a wave to all of my two-wheeled brothers and sisters.

I commuted for the first time today (2 days after getting my bike). It felt a little longer than I expected, but once I reached the office, I noticed that I made pretty good time.. roughly equivalent to the time it took me to take the subway to work. I rode 2nd ave all the way down to Houston, then down Broadway and finished at the bottom of Wall. This first ride was great.. I found a few spots where I could speed up (I accidently ended up in the turning lanes like 4 times, which I now know to avoid). And Broadway was the worst of them all, until ALL the traffic stopped moving except me!!

Took about 45 minutes or so. Once I build up some more endurance, hopefully I can do it ~30.

I tried picking up my average today. I made it to work in 45min instead of 50min. : ). I did encounter a punk trash truck driver at a red. I pulled up to his right side, when the light turned green he gunned it and beat me to the other side where he had a trash can to pick up. He totally block the bike lane, cut me off and pretty much ran me off the road I had to turn into the curve. I looked over and saw him smiling. I kept going and turned the next two trash can upside down. : ).
