Slow slog to work. The drivers aren't leaving the usual lanes open causing me to zig zag around every couple cars. The topper today was a cab that honked me, then sped ahead of me and immediately came to a stop to turn right from a straight thru lane. Not only that, but he was also stuck behind other cars doing the same thing. So I zigged around him, gave him "The Look" and made the same right he was so desperate to make.

Yeah, felt pretty humid yesterday here over the lake, and I heard about the storms/rain coming this afternoon - I welcome it, hopefully break the muggy air.

We started off ten minutes late from the house. We made up some of the time, but got to work about five minutes late. (still better than several of my co-workers)

It had rained earlier. Boys were good about dodging the puddles (the daycare would pitch a fit if they were to come in wit a line of wet and dirt up their backs.) My bike has fenders so a few puddles were no problem.

A decent ride in today, but it still feels weird to deal with Toronto traffic. As bad as the drivers in Shanghai are, there is always room for bikes. It feels awfully cramped riding here! Rode West along Gerrard -- it was nice to have a bike lane there, at least. Got in a bit earlier so I could quietly cool down and look presentable by the time most people arrived.

I work evening shifts from 8:30pm-7am....it's a gradual 6 mile uphill climb to work...and I'm never in much of a hurry to get there on Monday night, but traffic was light, threat of rain, the ride home this morning was almost perfect, roads dry enough not to get the stripe up the back, and hit every streetlight perfect, and at my middle point, theres a light every block.

Nice ride in today. Chatted with another commuter at a light. ALmost didn't take my turnoff for work, it was so tempting just to keep going...

Well it sure was hot for the ride home last night, temps in the mid 90s with decent humidity. Ozone action day too, so the air was mighty thick. I took it easy but was extremely hot when I got home, did a few minutes of cool down around the parking lot.

This morning I passed another commuter and turned to go through the golf course which is what I always do. Passed the same guy about 5 minutes later so he just took the straight road. After I passed him we came to a red light which I was stopped at. He slowed down a little but went right through to the center median and then continued across. Granted, this is a very long red light but he should have at least stopped and waited for a chance to go the whole way across. I will run it if I have to wait more than a minute but this guy blatantly just went through it. Saw a few more commuters out in this hot weather.

I think I'm gonna like this "commuting" stuff.

I'm close enough and the traffic is such that it not much different time-wise between riding the bike to work and driving my car. And I get the MAJOR bonus on bike ride by being pumped up with adrenaline flowing when I get work. I'm charged to go when I get here.

God I wish I would have been able to do this sooner. Before I moved from FL (about 6 weeks ago), there just was no good roads. It was a VERY bike UNfriendly area and the only roads I had (east-west) were both horribly busy with no shoulders and in some places no sidewalks.

I'm so glad to now live in a very bike friendly area.

I slept in today, then rode really fast.

Lately to post.... I did 30 miles last week, 5 miles each way to school and back, mon, tues and thurs.... Didnt ride in yesterday, as I had acces to my FIL truck (ok, I got a little lazy).... Had a nasty headwind today.... I have got to start earlier... by 9am the winds of Lake Michigan are NASTY!

I realy need to do some maintenance on my bike.... I'm going to try to find the local TREK store and ask some Q's and get some POL's and Tools....

I want to take some classes and learn how to tear my bike down this winter.... I heard that they do that at the store....

This Commuting this is getting fun.... I LOVE The looks I get from people....

Especially funny when "OMG you rode???" is closely followed by "you're so slim, I don't know how you eat so much, I am so fat and need to lose 20 pounds blah blah"

Me: Look meaningfully at bike and then back to concentrating on enormous lunch

I almost (ALMOST) wish I had farther to ride... 5miles is just not enough to shed any weight for me.... And I still eat next to nothing..... If you've lost some weight, come see me... I think I found it!

Well, I have 15 kms each way to work, so a bit longer ride than you (~9 miles). My problem with weight is the opposite - I took after my dad's side of the family who are all wiry to the point of looking quite unhealthy. We have hummingbird metabolisms so it is hard to get enough food in to fuel ourselves!

Just a quarter mile today, from car shop to work. Glad I had my bike on the rack for that last push into the office. Hopefully they will fix the car, my wife will take it home (w/ her bike on the rack), and I will get my usual ride home.

Ah, it was a nice commute this morning! Nice weather, no wind for a change!!!! Took a longer route to stop by the grocery store to buy my lunch and snacks for the day.

It's nearly 90F in Burlington, Vermont. I may wilt on the ride home.

The commute home is going to be interesting today... It's started POURING, and I didn't have time to get my fenders back on after changing my tires. Fortunately, I have rain gear... we'll see what happens.

Won't stone, you, it's you who's missing out I just recently started the round trip after feeling out my new job (was taking the train in the mornings). I just love waking up in the mornings now...well maybe after a bowl of cereal and the news. But it's a vast improvement from the non riding mornings.

Hot ride home yesterday, but I had a tailwind to push me along. I seem to have passed dozens of cyclists. Maybe not dozens, but several.

Low 60s this morning. Started out in a light rain but that stopped about halfway to work. Didn't ride fast. Saw a couple riders going the other way. Passed one going my way. Sat at a red light across the street from another. Wrong-way sidewalk rider.

Man, it was hot yesterday here in Raleigh, for some reason this morning the commute just seemed hard. Must be all that extra humidity

WHOOT! Commute was excellent! Wish I didn't have to be inside either --- had a cold front go through that changed us from 85F and humid to having a ride in with 63F and not humidity - nice and clear and clean - so there's a little headwind ... but it's still nice!

Great ride home last night, really warm, summer might be getting here just in time for the days to start getting shorter. Car wasn't ready, so I just biked home, got the trailer, went back for the kids in their various directions. I forgot to put helmet and gloves into the car for when I dropped it off to bike to work. Wind in hair was great coming home, sweat in eyes when I slowed down for final approach through neighborhood, not so much. Got out the helmet and bandanna for kid retrieval.

A real nice ride this morning. 70 degrees and sunny. Looking forward to a tailwind on the ride home.
